Mixology Monthly is a monthly subscription service that brings you all the tools to make killer cocktails in the comfort of your home. For only $60.00 per month, you’ll get glassware and tools that will help you become professional mixologist.

Everything is packed nicely with tissue and padding. The glass jars were wrapped in bubblewrap underneath. I thought it showed great care that the various items had specialized packaging tailored to the item – this isn’t a “throw in more squiggles and hope for the best” operation.

The theme for this month is Spiced. The information card gives you details about each item, as well as their retail value.

Besides tools and glassware, you’ll also get recipe cards and ingredients to make that perfect cocktail! They included recipes for three drinks, each based on a different liquor. I love that they don’t require any specialty liqueurs or exotic ingredients – other than the ones included in the box. For the two cocktails, I would need only an orange, sugar, soda water, and apple cider. The brandy infusion calls for cinnamon sticks, coriander, and allspice, but it also suggests adding your own extras.

Twine Mason Jar Stein Set With Glacier Rocks And Pour Lid ($26): The jar itself is a handled Mason jar with a one-piece screw on metal lid.

The Glacier Rocks are about 1/2″ cubed and made of solid stone – I believe it’s soapstone. You store them in the freezer and then plop them into your drink instead of ice cubes so your drink doesn’t get diluted by melting ice.

The pour spout screws onto the jar for easy serving. It has a hole in the side of the spout inside the jar to enable every drop to be poured!

It also includes a small soft rubber stopper to avoid spills and evaporation.

Top Note Ginger Beer Concentrate ($10): This “notably complex” ginger beer is infused with herbs and spices… and lots of real ginger. It is concentrated to make it better for mixing.

Bittercube Bitters Blacksrap Bitters ($10): Surprisingly flavorful for being bitters, Bittercube Blackstrap has a mellow tone of molasses and floral notes.

Quince and Apple Rhubarb Hops Syrup ($14): This is the first I’ve seen this particular combination, but it makes total sense as a mixer. The hops act as they do in beer, providing a bitter crispness and tangy floral character that balances the sweetness of the drink. Rhubarb is an unusual vegetable, but it stands in place of a mixer like cranberry juice, adding a pleasant tartness.

The side of the bottle also includes an additional recipe to try, but you’ll need some bubbly for this one!

I like the concept of this subscription. Many of us like mixed drinks, but we are untrained and have no idea what we need to set up a decent home bar. This box gives you the professional gear and some high-end ingredients and know-how to get you started. The gear this month didn’t comprise the “essentials” that we’ve gotten in the past, but they were fun additions to our home bar cabinet. It is a great way to build out your home bar, learning and sampling some delicious recipes along the way!
