Loot Crate‘s theme for October was HORROR.  Loot Crate is the original nerd subscription box for geeks & gamers. Every month you’ll get awesome, mostly exclusive geeky pop culture items curated around a theme for only $20 per month, shipped.

All the items in the October box! Gruesome!

Every Loot Crate box comes with the mini mag!

Letter from Loot Crate on this month’s diabolical theme.

The mini-mag contains all the item details, looter intel, as well as short features, like this interview with Wynonna Earp’s executive producer.

Loot Crate Monthly Pin: This month’s pin featured Pumpkin and William Shatner Masks and Knives from John Carpenter’s HALLOWEEN!

The pins are connected to bonus digital loot! This month lets you unlock a free digital copy of SUPERFIGHT.!

The box itself celebrated the return of The Walking Dead. And the Internet was totally buzzing about this one all. day. long!

Loot Crate loves to include a fan participation item in the box – and this time it was the box itself. We  punched this out of the crate…

loot-crate-october-2016-17

And totally got turned! This is so gross! But it’s an insta-costume too!

Negan Sluggers Shirt: Well that cliffhanger was resolved in smashing fashion – this is a sly nod to all TWD fans! Who did Negan kill? I’m not telling!

Cross-brand matchups never (? never say never…) happen in Loot Crate, but I did think to myself (despite a hefty dose of overload) that a Negan/Harley Quinn mashup would be cool to see in another box!

Camp Crystal Lake Pennant: Emulate Jason Voorhee’s idyllic lake getaway! The perfect addition for any horror-themed den.

Leatherface Phunny Plush: 50-5o you get the happy or sad version, but everyone gets chainsawed! A fun item for Texas Chainsaw Massacre fans. We’ve seen the Phunny Plushies before in the box and they’re always a great, well-made item (and check out the current selection, lots of great horror picks!).

His little apron even ties in the back.

The Legion of Regrettable Super Villains ($17.29) The July 2015 Loot Crate had the Hero volume of this series, so this was a great companion item!

loot-crate-october-2016-6

Not all villains are winners. Seaweed Queen controls seaweed! Colossus is strong enough to battle plantaliens!

loot-crate-october-2016-4

Freddy Kreuger Chopsticks: Stainless steel chopsticks secured by Freddy’s glove. We tried to use these as is, but the glove is too inflexible – you do need to remove them, which seems impossible, but ultimately they release from Freddy’s grip.

The booklet included a recipe!loot-crate-october-2016-18

We couldn’t resist!loot-crate-october-2016-19

It was delicious! My grandparents are in town and they happily even had seconds of Freddy’s Spaghetti & Eyeballs.

My kids went nuts over this one!

For $20 total I thought this was a well put together box, and if you were a horror fan, you’d probably love it – but as you may have guessed, it’s not really my thing! (Loot Crate needs a “gift this month” feature!) The book (and the spaghetti!) were probably our favorite items this month, but ultimately, it’s $20 and fun to engage in fandoms I wouldn’t necessarily experience, especially at Halloween. I think a lot of monthly subscribers probably skipped this month, but there were also a lot of people who subscribed just for this theme.

If you want to see spoilers for upcoming boxes (still waiting on November Loot Crate full theme release but we have some hints!) or reviews or information on the other boxes in the Loot Crate family, be sure to check out our Loot Crate page!

Well you know I love the shirt. You could grace JDM to all my shirts and I’d be a happy girl. I’m really enjoying all the SPN/WD Memes out this week. They are so funny.
