We need to take a moment to pay homage to this pink pearlescent emoji inspired bag designed by Valfré!
I love the little ghost with heart eyes. My favorite Ipsy bag ever.
And the goodies were pretty awesome too!
The theme for this month was Black Magic – have you cast any beauty spells this month?
The back of the card doesn’t have details on the items – there are many bag variations every month – but it tells you how to log in to your account to check out how-to videos and tips for your products.
NUDESTIX Concealer Pencil in Medium 4 ($10? This is half-size of the regular, but doesn’t come with the sharpener) I absolutely cannot believe how creamy and soft (without breaking) this concealer pencil is. Amazing! It’s super easy to apply because of the formula and pencil form, and blends nicely! It wasn’t It! Cosmetics level in coverage, but I was happy to have it!
Noyah Natural Lipstick in Smoke ($5.60) The case was cracked on my sample making the lipstick hard to turn. I like the formula, but it was a bit odd to get Noyah in a plastic container – their thing is that they use bamboo on the full-sizes to reduce plastic consumption.
Anyhow, this lipstick, despite its deep color here, sort of turned out nude on me, in an ombre balayage lavender brown sort of way. I liked it. It might be the first nude that I’ll ever actually wear.
And then I started googling about lavender chocolate hair color. I think I’m going to do it in December. Yes, I watched X-Men: Apocalypse this weekend and felt inspired by Quicksilver’s hair (which is lavender gray, but you know, make it your own).
theBalm Shadow/Blush in Cabana Boy ($1.70)
This formula is ultra-pigmented so you need only a tiny amount to achieve a natural flush. It has a hint of shimmer, but not as much as other shades in this line. My only complaint – it’s really hard to apply this as a blush given the tiny sample size – so I think it’s best used as a shadow.
Here are the swatches. That black spot? The will-never-come-off Wet & Wild from my Target Box!
Sally’s Box Aqua Moist Gel Cream ($4.3) This brand was 100% new to me!
When I flipped the container I could see why – it’s a K-Beauty brand! I thought it was great to have this product in my bag this month. The product itself was a nice gel cream that uses Provence roses, chamomile and lavender and aloe vera leaf water. Instead of being floral the scent came off as sea-like, and I liked it!
Lottie London Perfectly Precise Eyeshadow Brush ($15) This shadow brush was awesome! The duo fibers are densely packed and it allowed me to apply color without fallout. I was impressed with this brush!
The color is pretty too!
The value of my bag this month was about $37 – not as high as some months, but still pretty great. I feel like ipsy has really been improving the brands and quality in the items I’ve been receiving. At just $10 per month, this bag is so hard to pass up.

Was October’s bag adorable, or what?! Many people were offended and upset, but coming from a woman whose wedding anniversary is on Halloween…this one is my absolute favorite above all the ipsy bags I’ve received, and that’s A LOT (subscribed since March 2014). I’m obsessed. That concealer you have looks promising! I wanted it so badly, but didn’t get it.
Have to agree about the bag – even though I’m not a fan of Halloween, this bag is just plain adorable. LOVE the little ghost tag! The brush is something that’s always useful, and I like the gel cream even though that sounds like a contradiction in terms. The other things I got went straight into my donation bag (I’ve been giving unwanted cosmetics like this to a battered women’s shelter lately) – I never use foundation, so “Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation” doesn’t appeal to me, nor does the Tatcha cleansing oil (oily skin already, thank you), and I have a ton of similarly colored eye shadows to the Beaute Basics Satin Taupe one in this bag. 2 out of 5 products I’ll use isn’t a good ratio, even given the cute bag, so I’m trying to decide if I want to keep getting it more as a source for donating things than for myself. I do still have 5 free bag referrals to give to anyone who wants them.
I know what you mean about those Balm samples – like the products, but the little bitty blush samples are awfully hard to use.
oOoh…what are these free bag referrals you speak of? I may be interested 🙂
and I’m still waiting on mine 🙁 I love the bag this month it is so stinking cute.
