The GlobeIn Artisan Basket is a subscription that sends 4-5 handcrafted products from around the world that are curated around a theme to your home each month. In addition, each monthly shipment includes a gorgeous handmade basket (or, on occasion, a basket alternative if indicated in your preferences). All items are produced either by collectives that are fair trade certified or that respect and adhere to fair trade principles. All artisans and farmers whose products are distributed by GlobeIn are paid a fair wage for their products.
GlobeIn is committed to empowering artisans around the world by providing them with a global distribution network for their goods. With each shipment, you’ll get to learn about the artisans and communities your purchase has helped to support. Subscriptions cost $40/month, but the price can go as low as $35/month with a longer subscription. For those who are interested in receiving one handmade product inside a beautiful handmade basket for $19.95 each month, GlobeIn offers a Benefit Box. Their newest subscription, the GlobeIn Club, features one fairly traded item for $10 each month.
The theme for October 2016’s Artisan Box is Gather. It’s true: the best times are always when family and friends gather around a table to share a meal!
My GlobeIn Artisan Box arrived in an attractive GlobeIn signature cardboard box and was wrapped in turquoise tissue paper and sealed with a sticker.
The Gather box includes a bread bowl, salad tongs, coasters, and your choice of either a GlobeIn basket or two placemats. I chose to receive two placemats.
I was so excited to receive this box! I’ve been wanting new salad tongs and a bread basket for months, and I love the ones that GlobeIn selected for me!
Along with all of the lovely items in the box, the Artisan Box includes a booklet that gives details about each of the artists responsible for the items in the box.
My husband’s family is coming to town in a couple of weeks, and I can’t think of a better way to welcome them than with a meal that features the items in this box!
The gorgeous, soft coasters are covered in recycled cotton paper.
I love how each coaster is unique and yet they all coordinate. It has been years since I’ve made paper out of jeans, but these coasters have planted a spark in me to do it again!

The Bread Basket Woven in Another World is gorgeous. Handmade from palm fronds, this basket is artfully and elegantly constructed. I love the maroon band at the top.
The border provides a nice contrast too.
The Neem Wood Salad Grabbers ($10 on sale) are hand carved in India by Jayanti in her home. By finding stable work from home, she is able to find a comfortable work/life balance while caring for her children.
The salad grabbers are oversized and extremely easy to use.
This month, GlobeIn offered these exquisite palm placemats as a basket alternative to those subscribers who preferred them.
Handmade in Mexico, these are the perfect size for large dinner plates.
Those who didn’t select the pair of palm placemats received GlobeIn Baskets ($12 or 3 for $30) instead (the default). Made by a collective of individuals in Oaxaca, Mexico, these are great for storing small toys, bath and beauty products. They are made from previously discarded palm fronds and water-based paints. Each basket is 6″ in diameter and 5″ tall.
The Gather book concluded with a delicious recipe for an arugula salad!
What a lovely meal, thanks to GlobeIn! I enjoyed the salad so much that I plan to remake it for my husband’s family when they arrive in a couple of weeks.
I loved this month’s Gather box! GlobeIn is easily one of my favorite subscriptions, and I look forward to receiving it each month. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next month!
