BetterU Box August 2016 Subscription Box Review

BetterU Box is a monthly subscription box that sends 6 to 10 sample and full sized health and wellness products with a focus on vegan, plant based, natural, and organic items for $30 a month.  These items may include health foods, supplements, motivational books, and spiritual items.  All products are carefully hand picked by BetterU Box’s co-founders Anna & Jessica. Their goal is to guide you “through your journey of a BetterMind, BetterBody and BetterSoul”. The subscription is available in 1, 3, or 6 month terms and auto-renews at the end of the term. It is currently only available in the US and shipping is included.

The theme for August’s box was “August Awakening”. The items were shipped in a sturdy box with tissue paper as a cushion. The front of the product info card explained the “Pay it Forward” principle. It must be hard for companies to come up with items that suit every person every time, so they ask you to ask the universe who might benefit from that item that you think is unsuitable for your lifestyle.

There were some inserts that had coupons on the back for future purchases of your faves from the box.

I love it when companies include a product information card! According to this, my box has been reikied with positivity!

Everything in the box! I received 7 different items this month. Now, on to the items!

Purely Elizabeth is a new-to-me brand and I enjoyed the convenience of the individual cup of Pumpkin Fig Ancient Grain Granola + Puffs Cereal  ($2.49).  I simply poured milk on this organic mix of granola and puffed ancient grains and got on with my day.

PHIVEbar ($2.99) was delicious and reminded me of a cross between a LÄRABAR and a Fig Newton. I received the Original flavor (they are also available in Blueberry and Peanut Butter) and it was full of natural foods such as dates, nuts, and flax seeds and is organic and gluten free.

NOW Foods Pomegranate Berry Slender Sticks ($1 each) are sweetened with stevia and xylitol and are free from artificial colors and flavors. They contain vitamin C and have green tea extract and although sweet it didn’t have that fake sugar aftertaste. It tasted like a berry fruit punch and I liked it!

This wish bracelet from Little Treasures Shopp on Etsy ($3.99) is made with cotton cord and contains a teeny star charm in the middle. Simply make a wish as you tie it on and think positive thoughts every time you see it and when it falls off your wish should come true!

Wisdom from The Four Agreements by Don Migual Ruiz ($5.95 $4.05) is a mini book that contains excerpts from the original book and also has a 24k gold-plated leaf charm bookmark that can be removed and placed on a chain as a necklace.

The Four Agreements are: Be impeccable with your word. Don’t take anything personally. Do not make assumptions. Always do your best. I am always encouraging my students to try their best and it looks like this is one of the most important ones in this book!

Lucia’s Candle Cottage on Etsy offers organic soy candles that are handmade and contain essential oils. I received Lemon Balm Verbena ($5) which wasn’t available in the drop down menu but many other scents were. It was relaxing to have it burning nearby and helped my morning feel a bit less rushed.

Finally, I received a clear quartz crystal (such as this one from Etsy, $1.50). Quartz works on the crown chakra, which is a giver and receiver of energy. Try holding it in your hand and say some positive affirmations or a prayer and the energy should return to you!

I like this box since it helps remind me to relax and think about calming my body and the snacks were delicious! The value was a little on the low side this month, only about $23, but the curation was nice and the items were cute. Hopefully the value will be up again next month and in the mean time I am going to Whole Foods to look for more of those PHIVEbars!
