A huge box arrived for the doggies! Pet Treater is a monthly subscription that provides high-quality treats and toys for your beloved canine. When you use the code provided below, the first box ships with a complimentary dog bed, which you can see in Brandy’s review and my review. There are three different boxes available based on weight. Small which is 0-20 pounds, Medium which is 21-50, and Large is 51 + pounds.
That made me laugh!
Bella, our Mini Rat Terrier, is going to go nuts over the raccoon.
CoCo is a pampered princess that shares her pampering ways.
The August theme is Best in Show! J ,age 7, and I love watching the Westminster Dog Show every year. September will be “Ain’t Nothing But A Hound Dog.”
The August Animal Rescue Spotlight of the Month is HAAL, Homeless Animal Adoption League, in Bloomington, NJ.
My box arrived bulging at the seams. I am glad that they shipped the box inside a white plastic shipping bag. There are a few large size items in the August 2016 box. I also removed the box cover so that we could see inside the box.
All I know about Juicy Couture is that the store near me is closed. I was unaware that they started a doggy line that was originally sold at Neiman Marcus. 13 Deals, owned by the same parent company that owns Pet Treater has the Juicy Crittoure Gift Box Set ‘For the Decadent Dog” listed at $14.99, retail $55.00. It’s a really cute gift set that is nicely packaged in a gift box. The shampoo and conditioner are made in the USA and have a great scent. I was really surprised by this and think it is an excellent inclusion for the August Best in Show Box. It’s going to the farm because the dogs need baths more often up there.
The Guardian Gear Insect Shield Paisley Bandana ($9.99) is a 19″ square bandana that protects dogs from biting insects. It is a poly/cotton fabric that has been treated with Insect Shield Permethrin and lasts through 70 washes. It repels mosquitoes, ants, flies, ticks, chiggers, and midges. I need to do more research into it before I decide whether to use it on my dogs. It does look incredibly handy to own.
The black bowtie ($5.00?) can fit around your doggy or tie it around their collar. Odie and Bella had to leave for the farm before I was done with pictures, so no pictures of them wearing the bowtie.
Little Lamb would not allow me to adjust his bowtie. He does look adorable wearing it.
The Dingo Market Cuts Chicken & Sweet Potato Wraps ($14.24) are a made in the USA treat full of real chicken and sweet potato. The treats are an excellent size for a dog of Odie’s size, half Border Collie/half Labrador. The Smart and Tasty Chicken Twizzles ($2.90) is made in the USA using USA ingredients. Odie thought it was yummy to his tummy.
We won’t be using the treats because the only expiration date is listed on a sticker with a date of 03/1918. Half of the family thinks it is an expiration date of 3/19/18. The other half thinks it is 03/2018. There is no date printed anywhere on the bag. That and it is treated by irradiation makes it a pass for me. Others may have no issue with the treats.
The Highland on the Go Fold-Away Pet Bowl ($3.99) is small enough to tuck into an emergency kit. It measures 4″ tall and 8″ across, and holds a lot of food. It is large enough for my big dogs to eat out of comfortably.
The large raccoon toy (appx $15.00) was a hit with the doggies. It has a squeaker and the body makes a crinkly sound. The Knots for Nuts Rope and Rubber Ball ($3.64) is made out of rope and rubber. The texture left Odie puzzled.
The Barron’s Mini Encyclopedia of Dog Health ($7.47) is the Pet Treater gift for your human. It’s concise and full of illustrations to help the reader.
Time for doggy pictures!
Odie is waiting patiently for his chicken twizzle.
Bella is showing off her fierce Rat Terrier moves. She is a force to reckon with on the farm.
Odie was not convinced it was a ball. He sniffed it over a few times.
He caught the ball and immediately dropped it. He did not like how it felt in his mouth.
Odie approves of having a large raccoon toy. There is a string hanging down near the toy’s head because it is starting to detach.
Daisy was not happy about the condition of her baby. She sniffed her baby over and gave it a bath.

While the doggies enjoyed the box, it was a mixed result for me. Many people, including myself, worry about the quality and expiration date of dog treats. I did not feel comfortable with this month’s dog treats. Others may be fine with it. Everything else was wonderful. It was full of useful accessories and a useful human treat. The Juicy Crittoure Gift Kit was perfect for the Best of Show theme. The value is amazing for a pet box and is easily double the cost of the box. It’s a wonderful box for dog owners that are looking for more than treats and toys in a subscription box.
