Markybox is a monthly subscription box that sends an art project for you to create by yourself or with your family. You will get all the materials needed to make the project twice so its great for me since I have two boys who are always wanting to craft with me. This month’s box was really heavy when I brought it in. I had no idea what the craft could be but I was really curious due to the weight of the box.

I love the bright orangish red of the box and the inside lid of the box is just as cute. I love all the crafting implements represented.

First look into my box and while I could see we would be doing some casting this month I couldn’t tell much else.

I took away the Marky kraft paper and could see why the box was so heavy.

Everything in the Marky box this month. Enough ingredients to make two castings.

The information card has news on the front and a full set of instructions on the back. I was just a little too excited when I saw there were holes in the card so that I could put them in a binder for future use. The craft was to create a mold of your hand!

We had a quick change of plans when we started our project.  Originally my youngest was going to do the first mold but he got a little creeped out when he saw the mix together so I called my oldest over and he jumped right in.  He had already decided on his hand gesture and was ready to go.

He kept his hand in and did a great job. He says it felt weird and he could tell the rubber was getting tighter on his hand.

His hand is out and we are ready to pour in the plaster.

The plaster is in and then you just wait.  We left ours for about 6 hours before I tried to get it out.

And it’s out.  He was going for a peace sign but curled his fingers a bit. I still think its pretty cool.  We left it sit out and then wiped it off to clean it off a bit more before painting.

And our finished product.  N decided to paint his with the bronze paint. I think it came out great and once its dry we will set it up on the mantle.

This was a great project and we had lots of fun. We still have enough supplies to make another mold and once my boys decide on what it should be we will do that.  Most of the issues with this one had nothing to do with the craft itself and just my boys being boys. Next time I will probably just do the craft myself and make something that I will love.
