Beauteque offers two subscriptions featuring Asian beauty products delivered to your door monthly. Products include makeup, skin care, body care, and more. For $22 per month, your BB Bag comes with 6-8 full size products. If you like masks, the Mask Maven subscription brings you 9-11 various masks monthly starting at $14. The following is a review of the April BB Bag.
What’s in the box??? Ooh, I see black and white chevrons!
My BB Bag unpacked. This month’s theme is Festival Friendly Finds. If only I had time and tickets to go rock out.
Festival Friendly Finds
*Be Fab & Fun *
Have your sights set on festival freedom this season? All you need to be the flower child having the most fun is in this fabulous, festival-friendly bag. Makeup removal on the go, refreshing cloths, and the secrets to a sandal-ready mani/pedi are among the items helping you take center stage.
The Beauteque Team
The fold out card has information on each of the products and basic how to use directions. Pricing for products varied across sites. The prices listed are those of Beauteque.
The Saem Healing Tea Garden Cleansing Tissue – Green Tea ($8.00): Whether you need to freshen up after a day or two at a festival or just need to wipe away the work day, these wipes will do the job. They contain green tea which provides the skin with nourishing antioxidants while reducing inflammation and helping to even out tone. I will never turn away cleansing wipes and was impressed with these. I was able to easily wipe away my eye makeup and matte lipstick. These also have a pleasant green tea (floral) scent.
Tony Moly Pure Eco Cool Water Soothing Gel ($14.99): This contains 99% Damyang bamboo to refresh tired skin. In addition to providing hydration, bamboo also has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. During a recent volunteer event, I got a lot of sun (slight burn). I used this gel afterwards, and it helped to ease the sting and cool my skin. I was surprised at how moisturized my skin felt as well. I will be reaching for this instead of my usual aloe this summer. On a side note, the Damyang Bamboo festival was held from May 3-8. Too bad we missed all of the bamboo and water-related fun.
Prelab Toning Peeling Tap ($20.00): Each tab contains a measured dose of serum attached to a sponge applicator to deeply cleanse, moisturize, and exfoliate the skin. The essence contains several plant and fruit extracts including aloe, tea tree, lemon, kiwi, willow bark, and apple. Squeeze the tab to push serum onto the sponge. I think with repeated use, I will see the exfoliating benefits. I kept scratching my face with this applicator – I may have used too much pressure when swiping across my face. If you are visiting a festival, a few of these in your bag will make sure that you have a clean and glowing face each day. I have a little ranting to do. Sorry. The Korean side of the label phonetically reads that this is a toning peeling tab, not tap. In Korean, there are separate letters which represent B and P sounds. Someone made a very large translating error on these.
Milky Dress SOS Blemish Cream ($9.00): The information card has this listed lower than the Beauteque site price of $9.90. I had to do some digging to find the ingredients in this cream. It does not contain salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. The key active ingredients in this blemish cream are niacinamide (improve elasticity and even skin tone), calamine (reduce irritation), glucose (for hydration), and propanediol (for hydration). This should only be used as needed. I will pass this on to my teenage niece.
Kinepin Beauty Nail Company Nail Kit ($6.00): This kit contains your essentials to prep for that festival-ready mani and pedi. It includes foam toe separators, a nail brush, cuticle stick, and 4 part tool (shape, smooth, buff, and shine).
InterColor Pretty Nail Flower Nail Polish – 305 Strawberry Color ($7.00): Um, yes, that is the brand name. This is a shimmer filled, strawberry colored jelly polish. The information card says to apply 1-3 coats depending on your preference. I did one coat on a naked nail and one over a white base. A fun, flirty color to add to your festival style.
One coat of the strawberry polish.
And last, but not least, my BB Bag. Tres chic! I love the classic black/white color scheme, and the chevron pattern adds a bit of edginess. Perfect for my inner rock chick.
The May Beauteque BB Bag had a value of $65! There were some good travel items in the assortment for the girl on the go. Personally, I can’t decide between the cleansing wipes and bamboo gel for my favorite item. What did you think of this month’s bag? Let me know by leaving a comment below.
On a Side Note: Before trying any Asian cosmetic subscription, expect that most information on the package will be in the native language. That said, more and more brands are including directions/ingredients in English, and information can also be found in English on the majority of brands’ websites (you may have to choose a brand’s global or US site). Secondly, a large number of products focus on brightening or whitening the skin. As a person of color, I have not seen my skin color change. Instead, I’ve experienced that my skin tone gets evened out after prolonged use. However, your results may be different. And lastly, many products contain ingredients which are animal-derived, so these may not be an option if you are vegan. You can also check out cosDNA.com to see if the ingredients for the product are listed there.
This month’s Beauteque BB Bag is valued at nearly $65!
