I picked the Strange Worlds case!

I received 2 hard  back books  in the fantasy genre. The books were cushioned with paper to keep the covers from damage.   I have read both books already. I couldn’t put them down. The last one I finished at 1:30 am this morning.

The Girl in the Road by Monica Byrne ($11.99 on Amazon) is a story about a girl from futuristic Mumbai who crosses an energy absorbing bridge over the Arabian Sea to Ethiopia, and another girl from a different time and direction is headed towards to revolution in Ethiopia. This book kept me wanting to read to find out how these two were intertwined and let me tell you I was not expecting the ending. WOW! This is definitely a good read.

In a world where global power has shifted east and revolution is brewing, two women embark on vastly different journeys—each harrowing and urgent and wholly unexpected.

When Meena finds snakebites on her chest, her worst fears are realized: someone is after her and she must flee India.  As she plots her exit, she learns of the Trail, an energy-harvesting bridge spanning the Arabian Sea that has become a refuge for itinerant vagabonds and loners on the run.  This is her salvation.  Slipping out in the cover of night, with a knapsack full of supplies including a pozit GPS, a scroll reader, and a sealable waterproof pod, she sets off for Ethiopia, the place of her birth.

The Ark Storm by Linda Davies ($22.97 on Amazon) is a story about major apocalyptic type storm headed for California and a meteorolgist who gets caught up in a “storm” of her own. Once I started this book I couldn’t really put it down. I finished it this morning around 1:30 am.

The Ark Storm is coming―a catastrophic weather event that will unleash massive floods and wreak more damage on California than the feared “Big One.” One man wants to profit from it. Another wants to harness it to wage jihad on American soil. One woman stands in their way: Dr. Gwen Boudain, a brave and brilliant meteorologist.

When Boudain notices that her climate readings are off the charts, she turns to Gabriel Messenger for research funding. Messenger’s company is working on a program that ionizes water molecules to bring rain on command. Meanwhile, Wall Street suits notice that someone is placing six-month bets on the prospect of an utter apocalypse and begin to investigate. Standing in the shadows is journalist Dan Jacobsen, a former Navy SEAL. War hardened, cynical, and handsome, Jacobsen is a man with his own hidden agenda.

As reading is one of my favorite pastimes, I loved this box, and read it to the end!  Total retail for this box is $51.99, cost of the subscription $14.99 a month. Total savings: $37!!! I love savings!

I hope you enjoy your box as much as I did! Save 10% on your first month with coupon code CRATEJOY.
