HalfBlood Prints June 2016 review

Everything in my HalfBloodPrints box!  This month featured items inspired by the characters of Peter Pan.

Peter Pan Art Print: The quote reads – The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you’ll cease forever to be able to do it! What a fun print! I saw the spoilers for this box and I couldn’t help subscribing. Plus, I’m working really hard on a geek gallery wall!

There was a bit of lift off of the ink from the print, but it’s really excellent quality for the price you pay.  Most boxes that include portrait items use thin, glossy poster paper and don’t take much care in the handling of it.  I loved the quality and hangability of this piece — it is printed on heavy stock and shipped in a manner that protected it from manhandling.

The box comes with a sticker as well as a calendar magnet – every month! Note that you’ll get a magnet for the following month in your box (this was a May box, June magnet) so you don’t miss a single day!

There’s also an info card and a bookmark – love the Lost Boys!  The portrayal of the characters is done in really interesting style — the omitted features play to the iconic nature of the subjects and make them a bit less cartoonish than a full rendering would.

The information card provides details on the subscription as well as solicits input on future themes! And the back of the bookmark is of course Cap’n Hook’s crew!

Our premium subscription came with a cool T-shirt.  It’s about as Peter Pan as you can get — it has his motto, captures the iconic scene from the movie where Peter and the children are silhouetted against Big Ben, and it even comes in Peter’s famous shade of green! The shirt itself is a Gildan DryBlend – half & half cotton/poly blend, making it moisture-wicking!

We really love the concept behind this subscription.  Fandom boxes tend to have fun things, but not a lot of art you would hang in your formal dining space.  HBP provides artwork that satisfies both your inner kid and your grown-up aesthetic.
