This box does have some weight to it – it contains two full-sized books in it.  Remember carrying these around before there were e-Readers?

There was a handwritten Valentine’s Day card with a brief synopsis of each book.  It’s hard to read, but here’s what the note says:

Summer,

Even though spring is still a month away, why not take time for yourself and relax.  Enjoy our February picks and fall in love with reading again!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Katie

The Edge of Never by J.A. Redmerski ($11.30):  When I saw this book, I had a bit of deja vu.  It has actually been sitting in my “to read” pile for a few months now.  Guess fate is telling me to get to it.  My sister loaned me her copy, along with the sequel (The Edge of Always).  She did say that this can be read as a stand alone book; everything gets wrapped up without a cliffhanger.

–The New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestselling blockbuster–
New Adult Romance

This new paperback edition includes exclusive bonus material – an all-new full chapter from Andrew’s point of view during a crucial scene!
Sometimes life takes you off course . . .

Grabbing her purse and her cell phone, Camryn boards a Greyhound bus ready to find herself. Instead, she finds Andrew Parrish.

Sexy and exciting, Andrew lives life like there is no tomorrow. He persuades Camryn to do things she never thought she would and shows her how to give in to her deepest, most forbidden desires. Soon he becomes the center of her daring new life, pulling love and lust and emotion out of her in ways she never imagined possible. But there is more to Andrew than Camryn realizes. In the Red by Elena Mauli Shapiro ($21.24):  I love a story where the characters are a little darker or involved in the underworld.  From the reviews I’ve read, there’s also a bit of girl power to the story too.  I’ve got a long weekend coming up and can’t wait to get into this one!

A darkly erotic novel about a good girl gone bad.
When Irina–Romanian by birth but brought up by American parents who have never understood her-arrives at college she quickly abandons ordinary student life for an affair with an older, mysterious Romanian man named Andrei.

Andrei awakens a powerful sensuality in Irina. And he has money – lots of it. For the first time, Irina feels free. But the longer she stays with Andrei, the more she is certain that she can’t leave, and that may be complicit in Andrei’s work – whatever that “work” might be. Then an unexpected friendship with a young Russian bride opens the door to escape, and also revenge.A darkly erotic novel about a good girl gone bad.

A tantalizing, edgy exploration of women and love, power and money-interwoven with potent, unusual, and nervy Romanian fairy tales-In the Red asks what the legacy of love is, and who will be left unscathed.

The value of this box was more than the $32.54 it contained.  I loved that I didn’t have to sift through a ton of blurbs to find an interesting story (um, hello, time saver!), and I found some new authors to read.  Also, since getting an e-Reader, I’ve missed the feeling and smell of an actual book in my hands.  Now, if only someone could create a subscription for more time in the day…
