Beauteque offers two subscriptions featuring Asian beauty products delivered to your door monthly.  Products include makeup, skin care, body care, and more.  For $24 per month, your BB Bag comes with 6-8 full size products.  If you like masks, the Mask Maven subscription brings you 9-11 various masks monthly starting at $15.  The following is a review of the February Mask Maven, whose theme is Fabulous February:  Put Yourself First.

On a Side Note:  Before trying any Asian cosmetic subscription, expect that most information on the package will be in the native language.  That said, more and more brands are including directions/ingredients in English, and information can also be found in English on the majority of brands’ websites (you may have to choose a brand’s global or US site).  Secondly, a large number of products focus on brightening or whitening the skin.  As a person of color, I have not seen my skin color change.  Instead, I’ve experienced that my skin tone gets evened out after prolonged use.  However, your results may be different.  And lastly, many products contain ingredients which are animal-derived, so these may not be an option if you are vegan.  You can also check out cosDNA.com to see if the ingredients for the product are listed there.

The information card has an explanation of each item’s purpose and key ingredients.  For some products, there are also basic how to use directions.  Here’s the note from the front of the information card:

Hello Beauty,

Happy February!  The beauty of this bag is the variety that awaits you within.  Honey soothes, green tea detoxifies, and blueberry battles blemishes – and that’s just a third of the masks you’ll find here to work their magic on your face!

Enjoy discovering this decadent cache of masks, and consider it our Valentine to you.  In the month of love, why not show your skin the most love?

XO,

The Beauteque Team

This month’s mask selections.  Oh my!  Sorry if the reviews sound a little repetitive, but several of the masks this month have similar ingredients.

20160304_213101

Esfolio Green Tea Essence Mask Sheet ($1.90):  Various ingredients in green tea leaves help to remove toxins hidden in the pores and make your skin clean and clear.  Plus, vitamins found in quince extracts and catechins in green tea will promote firmer skin.  Some bags contained the 3W Clinic Fresh Green Tea Mask Sheet instead.

Esfolio Honey Essence Sheet Mask ($1.90):  Honey has natural antiseptic properties which help to make the skin clear while providing moisture.  Also, vitamins in Chinese quince and purslane extracts revive skin to boost firmness.  Some subscribers received the Nature Republic Real Nature Sheet Mask – Royal Jelly as an alternate.

Hanaka Magic Garden Series – Cactus+ Hyaluronic Acid Mask ($1.90):  This mask is made out of 100% natural wood pulp fiber from Japan and is completely decomposable after use ~ an eco-friendly mask! This has prickly pear cactus extracts and hyaluronic acid to deeply hydrate skin for dramatic glow and radiance.

Hanaka Magic Garden Series – Snail & Black Pearl + Elasticity Mask ($1.90):  This is a rayon mask and uses snail secretion filtrate to speed skin healing and reduce redness from blemishes, while providing moisture.   Black Pearl powder stimulates the skin to regenerate collagen, improving elasticity.  This also contains chamomile extract to soothe the skin.  I was a little skivved out at the thought of snail secretion, but if I can eat escargot…

Somoon Ampoule Juice Animal Mask – Bear ($3.25): This character-face mask is made of 100% pure cotton.  The Bear’s ampoule contains honey and royal jelly extract to fight inflammation and dryness, as well as raspberry and blueberry extracts that provide antioxidants to improve overall skin health and brightness.  Witch hazel is also used as an astringent.  There was a slight tingle for the first few minutes this was on, but otherwise I didn’t feel anything else.  It may have left me a little over moisturized (if that’s possible).  For a little laugh, I’ll show you what this looks like on.

Dewytree Honey Moist Black Sheet Mask ($2.25):   From blossoms found on Jeju Island, trehalose (along with honey and collagen) provides effective moisture and elasticity to skin.  Grapefruit extracts in the serum add antioxidant properties and help even skin tone.

Leaders Step Solution AC – Dressing White Velvet Mask ($3.25):  This is a dual clearing mask sheet made of natural non-woven fabric and seaweed gel.  It soothes and reduces inflammation and irritation of acne prone skin.  It also helps reduce the appearance of pores.  Other styles sent to subscribers were the Leaders Pore-Scaling Black Aqua Mask and the Leaders Aquaringer Mask.

Mizon Enjoy Vital-Up Time Calming Mask ($2.25):  This mask sheet is made with propolis (aka bee glue) which calms and soothes skin.  It also uses trehalose and hyaluronic acid for moisturizing.

Ladykin Green Harmony Mask Pack – Blueberry ($3.00): Blueberries provide antioxidants and help fight aging and blemishes.  The mask pack promotes brighter and firmer skin.  This is a wash off mask.  To use, apply to face and rinse off with warm water after 10-15 minutes.  This looks like a loose lotion in the pack, and the blueberry scent is subtle.  It feels like a cold cream pack on, but it left my skin very soft.  Some subscribers received the following Yeon Hallabong products instead – Peeling Gel, Live Pack, or Pore Ghassoul Pack.

Here’s a close up of the Somoon Ampoule Juice Animal Mask – Bear.  It’s a bear’s face, and he’s eating a jar of honey.

And this is what it looks like on.  If you’re expecting to relax with this on in front of others, forget it.  You’ll end up laughing with everyone else about how silly you look.

With the return of warmer weather in Florida, and more consistent makeup use, my face has been breaking out like it did in my teens.  This bag, filled with all kinds of blemish fighting masks, couldn’t have come at a better time.  It is valued at more than $21, which is just over the monthly cost of the subscription and shipping.   I can’t wait to have a girls’ spa day to try out some more with friends.

Did any of you get the alternate masks?  If so, let me know how they performed for you.
