treatsie february 2016 review

Everything in my February Treatsie Box!

Shotwell Candy Co. Tennessee Toffee ($5.95) This toffee is buttery, bourbony, and delicious! It’s covered in premium dark chocolate and has pecans! Treatsie sends out a fair amount of toffee but you’ll never hear a peep of complaint from my husband. I took a bite and lovingly gave him the rest of the bag, he’s such a fan!

Salem Baking Co. Chocolate Moravian Cookies ($4.99) These crispy cookies are seriously chocolately! They use semisweet chocolate and cocoa powder to create rich dark (seriously they’re almost black) cookies. They’re like what the cookie part of oreos would be if artisans made them, but delightfully thin and crisp. Treatsie sent out a recipe to use them as a crust, but I think that’s a little blasphemous. FYI, if you want to ever make something dark like Oreos, I recommend Black Cocoa from KAF.

Seattle Chocolates Just For You! – Sea Salt Caramel Milk Chocolate Truffle Bar ($3.50)

Two bars from Seattle Chocolates filled with delectable goodies!

The sea salt caramel has chunks of caramel/toffee pieces and a hint of salt. The Pink Bubbly is where it’s at for me though! Freeze-dried raspberries in a white chocolate filling with popping candies!! It really makes the flavors effervesce in your mouth and makes it more delicious. The dark chocolate really sets off the filling.

During the Valentine’s Day season (still working, just checked), Treatsie’s awesome gift deals are back (up to 3 free months!).

Brandy 🙂 OK, see I knew I was missing something. I picked up on the items not being goodies you could actually run out and buy or just pick up on the way out of the grocery store so that made sense. Once I started with subscription boxes it didn’t take long to get quite a few under my belt. Only a few have actually made it into the KEEP pile so far and none of the boxes I have tried have ever been any type of artisan box or chocolates specifically. I think I do remember the Kloverbox with the chocolate bar you are talking about and I don’t think I ever fully figured out what you were talking about until this conversation. I knew I was missing something else for this box to make sense this month so I really appreciate you helping me out. I so so so agree with your statement about how you feel about a company and their customer service. Staying with a company and especially when you’re on the fence about keeping your subscription or not is a big factor. It is really great to hear how thoughtful and careful they are with shipping methods and replacement items. With all of that being said I think since I have been flirting with the idea of splurging on this little goodie box now would be a really good time to jump on board. Thank You Thank You 🙂

Brandy !! Hello there again. Okay, I have ALMOST ordered this box several times especially with the 1/2 off and/or double sweets offer. I mean come on, right ? Anyhoooooo If this box (at least this month) it’s value adds up to about $18.00 and if you’ve paid $20.00 doesn’t seem all that appealing anymore…. UNLESS these were all extremely hard items to find on your own and Treatsie did all the leg work ??? Most boxes of course at least claim the included items exceed the price you pay. I just wanted to ask your opinion on this one… Was this month an exception and you were cool with it because you enjoyed the goodies so much ? Like all boxes, depending on what ya like it’s always going to be hit or miss sometimes but the only thing that would kinda make me salty about this box would be the artisan like oreo cookies. I usually eat the icing filling and toss the oreos any dang way lol.
As always…. Thank you so much for the beautiful and wonderful review

Hello dear! So first of all like most of the boxes we purchase I do have an annual subscription. Second, prices like $3.50 for those bars are a bit deceiving – they require chocolate specific shipping (did you read my Kloverbox about that bar that was like $11 to ship?). So the shipping savings on the artisan food boxes are generally big, but ESPECIALLY big on the delicate items like sweets. The value you get is about break even with the box, but you save on all the shipping, get a moderated amount delivered to you monthly, and don’t have to find them. I wouldn’t have any place to buy these locally. People who shop at Whole Paycheck 3x a week may not find this box interesting for sure. Basically I don’t really say it all the time but if a box is a BAD value I will always say it. This is the kind of value I expect from this box. They also will replace items if they arrive to you ruined, that sort of thing, and use heat sensitive shipping in the summer. It’s really up to each individual. I also like buying cadbury dairy bars (fruit and nut please) at the store. It’s totally worth trying out with one of the deals to see if it’s something you’d like long term or even for a few months.
