Moustache Coffee Club November 2015 Subscription Review + Free Coffee Offer

This week, Moustache sent us a great blend for our Thanksgiving after dinner coffee! Moustache Coffee Club is one of the most consistent and enjoyable coffee subscriptions I’ve had.  Moustache Coffee Club  is a coffee subscription box featuring freshly roasted single origin beans that are shipped the day they are roasted.  They feature certain roasters that appear quite frequently, but with different offerings (and always good quality).

Moustache Coffee Club offers several different plans, depending on your coffee demands, as few as a bag a month to as many as one five-pound bag every week.  You can get your first bag free by signing up. You may cancel anytime and if you don’t like the coffee you can get a refund or double the coffee.  I have not yet had to use their refund policy.

 Moustache recently debuted new bags to keep the beans fresher.  The top is resealable, and I like that all the relevant info for the coffee is right on the bag.  It’s too hard to cross-reference info cards, etc, before the first cup of the day.

Finca La Hermosa from Chimaltenango, Guatemala Roasted by Bar Nine. Moustache Notes: chocolate body, graham cracker, crisp apple sweetness. Roasted 11/4, arrived 11/8! This is a seasonal coffee selection and includes bourbon, catimor, and pache varietals.

Though I like having the relevant info right on the bag, the additional info card does usually provide a nice intro to the coffee but nothing was mentioned this month. For the record, I’ve switched to Aeropress.

I find the tasting notes and descriptions to be in accord with my own notes most of the time  — the crew at Moustache Coffee Club seems to have a good sense of what notes will stand out to the average palate, not indulging too heavily in minutia that are not detectable to most.

This unique offering combines three varietals from Guatemala into a harmonious blend with a wide flavor profile.  The slightly bitter chocolate provides a steady base upon which the other flavors play.  The graham cracker flavor is tough for me to identify as such, but there is a biscuit/cookie/grain note present.  There is also a light, sweet pear or apple finish.  This blend is seasonal, and it would go well as a Thanksgiving dessert accompaniment.
