Popsugar Must Have Special Edition Fall 2015 Box Review

My Fall 2015 Popsugar Must Have Box Special Edition arrived much earlier than expected, and I’m totally thrilled!  Popsugar Must Have Box is a monthly women’s lifestyle subscription box with a variety of stylish items curated by the editors over at Popsugar in the categories of beauty, home, treats, accessories, jewelry, and personal care. It’s really a monthly treat and occasionally they offer one-time purchases of a special edition box about 6-7 times per year. I always have to buy one (and thanks to Erin to making this purchase possible while I was traveling!).

The Special edition boxes always come beautifully packaged in a great storage box, and everything is wrapped up. The card gives the details and retail price for each item.

Deepa Gurnani Aria Necklace ($90) This statement necklace is handcrafted in India and is a crystal embroidered necklace. It’s deceptively lightweight!

Unusually the back is felted, which I thought was a little odd, but…

Then I noticed the embroidery! This is really attractive and unusual. I’m going to be careful not to wear makeup/lotion/fragrance on my chest because of the felt when I wear this though.

It’s quite gorgeous and not as brash as the stock photo from the spoilers kind of suggested. It came with a nice cloth storage back, but I’ll store it like I do all my other necklaces!

 Tatcha Polished  Classic Rice Enzyme Powder ($65) I’m WAY excited about this – unlike the first time I saw this in a box, this product appears to have been reformulated to remove the talc and the primary ingredient is rice powder. It is a micro-powder exfoliator, and I generally tend to use this in the shower. Very happy about this, and thank you Tatcha for getting that icky talc out. This is a great (and spendy) full size product!

Swing Design Aura Lacquer Aquamarine Valet Tray ($54)  It’s hard to pick a favorite in this box, and this one might be it.  It’s also hard to accurately capture the color, and this color is definitely not right. It’s just a little more green and you can check out the stock photo to get the right color. It’s gorgeous and absolutely doesn’t say fall to me, and I don’t think I care at all, because it fits perfectly with the design and accessories of my home (it matches my West Elm curtains perfectly, which are currently in a pile on my stairs!). I know just where to put this gorgeous tray. It’s such a sleek tray and perfect for storing a few precious trinkets.

The bottom is felted to match, but even greener than the tray.

Canvas Home Dauville Coasters in Platinum ($45.99) I didn’t realize it until I opened them up and had them in my hand that these match the bowl in the December 2014 Popsugar Box! They are from the same range and have that same unglazed clay exterior with poured/pooled metallic paint inside. And they are really awesome coasters. I’m going to affix felt dots to the bottom so they don’t scratch up my tables. I finally became a grownup and always use a coaster now, and these are fantastic because they won’t get icky with use.

Becca Cosmetics Ombre Rouge Eye Palette ($40) This is a great non-overwhelming palette – 5 perfect colors for contouring the eyes and making different looks. The back is labeled with the numbers of the colors, and the palette comes with a sheet to help you do your eyes. I love that – I always need help creating those looks and figuring out where to put all the different colors! The shadows are infused with green coffee oil and have a built-in primer.

Smith & Cult Nailed Lacquer in No Poem ($18) I was happy with this! The first Smith & Cult lacquer I ever got the lid wouldn’t come off, and the big metal lid is too large for me to use. You can pop off the shiny silver cap to get a better handle on the polish, and I love the color.  This concrete gray “No Poem” was recently highlighted in The Zoe Report (and check out the full Fall Zoe Report spoilers if you’re itching for those as well!). The cap underneath is a little smaller than I’d like and the polish is a teensy bit sticky (not my fave formula but the bottle is super glam).

This was an absolutely fantastic box and the slick modernist style was really right up my alley. It had an astounding value of $313 and I was really in love with every item. It wasn’t a super “fall” box, but the Fall Popsugar Special Edition boxes tend to be fashion-oriented, and this continued that trend. I think purchasers with the expectations of something in the cozy/warm/pumpkin spice range might have been disappointed, but this was an amazing box, and might take the place of my favorite Special Edition Box from Fall 2013!
