The information card. Same size, it just goes lengthwise. Oddly enough the regular card had a different font for the product names than usual, but not this one.

upgrade items

This month the upgrade items arrived in a separate box!

smashbox mascaraSmashbox Cosmetics Full Exposure Mascara ($20) This is just the sort of mascara I love, so while I think there have been several mascaras in the Birchbox Upgrade boxes already, I’m not complaining about this one!

laura gellarLaura Geller Beauty Bronze-n-Brighten in Medium ($33) This is a bronzer/highlighter combo, with built-in color corrective pigments to counteract any redness.

All the items in my box – minus the full-size Upgrade items!

StriVectin-AR Advanced Retinol Eye Treatment ($25)

Oribe Après Beach Wave and Shine Spray ($4.58)

dr. brandt® microdermabrasion skin exfoliant ($9.78)

stila look at me liquid lipstick ($11)

Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Liquid ($2.34)

Wow! This is one of the highest value boxes I’ve ever received – not including the upgrade items – nearly $53 in value! The items are somewhat of a headscratcher, because this is on the account that I have set up as a teen profile. While the items are perfect for me, I’m 20 years older with a totally different complexion than that profile (young, oily skin, frizzy hair, that sort of thing). So while I’m completely happy receiving them, that they were sent for this profile is somewhat of a headscratcher (I’m a 100% supporter of skincare products for teenagers and young women, but most of them don’t need retinol or a product for very dry skin).

The StriVectin-AR is an amazing product, and I think it really makes a different. While I’ve tried plenty of Oribe before, I haven’t used this one and it’s on my list of must-tries for tomorrow. Dr Jart’s Ceramidin Liquid, Lotion, and all the others are my holy grail items. The Stila Lipstick is absolutely a liquid lipstick (not a stain, etc) with a nice matte finish and tons of pigment. Swatch below! I love the Dr. Brandt – and I especially love the container (it’s a tube instead of a pot). So I’m thrilled personally with this box! I also loved how the card told me to only use the microdermabrasion 1-2 times per week, and that they gave application tips for the lipstick at Birchbox.com/stila.

The swatch for the Stila in Venizia is on the bottom (Beso, from my other Birchbox – not up yet – is on the top!).
