July 2015 Allure Beauty Box Review #thebeautybox

Allure Beauty Box is here, and Allure Sample Society  from Beauty Bar is no more! Allure Beauty Box a beauty subscription that sends 5 deluxe samples – makeup, skin, hair, accessories, and fragrance.  Samples are chosen by Allure magazine editors. The new name is confusing, because what’s now known as Allure Beauty Thrills was formerly the Allure Beauty Box.

There’s a mini magazine in every box and it’s very editorial – the Allure editors pick every product and give tips on use and why they like it. Or why you might not. The mini-mag is exactly the same as it was before.

Instead of a code to Beauty Bar, there’s now an offer included. I think think this was anything special – a free gift with an Estée Lauder purchase at Bloomingdales. I like to see exclusive offers in subscriptions – especially for large corporate boxes (indie boxes with generic codes for an Etsy shop, I’m totally ok with!).

Everything in the box! It looks exactly the same! There are 6 products in the July box, and it remains to be seen whether or not that will stick, or if it’s just a bonus for this month!

invisibobble Traceless Hair Ring ($8) I was really skeptical about this, but it works great, and I didn’t have to loop it a zillion times. I love this much more than hair ties. What a find!

Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer ($4.50) I don’t heat style my hair all that often, but it also protects against UV rays, so I’m going to try it! The scent is super light, which is good.

Oscar Blandi Volumizing Dry Shampoo Spray($6.97) I think I’ve tried this a million times. Nothing new, but I like this product and have never given one away!

Supergoop! Defense Refresh Setting Mist SPF 50 ($6) I’m most excited about this product, even though I’m getting a full bottle in my July Popsugar box! This is a pretty small sample size – half the travel size – but it has a screw top so I hope I can refill it! This is a makeup setting spray with SPF, and I’ll have to see if I like it more than my Urban Decay spray, but I’m really excited to put them through their paces and compare! It definitely has a matte but slightly sticky texture.

Sumptuous Infinite Daring Length+Volume Mascara (deluxe sample – regular size $26) This has one of those brushes with those new short bristle brushes. I don’t love them – I like the crazy big brushes and I didn’t feel like I got great results from this mascara.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum ($18.20) I could swear that I’ve received this before, but I’m not sure where it’s from! Allure has featured this line before (including the eye gel), but not this serum as far as I know!  I love night eye serums and this is pretty pricey, so I’m happy to try it!

This is essentially the same subscription as it was before and I liked the July box quite a bit more after taking a look at all the products than I did at first look. I never know how to value a mascara sample, but the box had around $50-$55 value, and I thought that it was great. Allure definitely proved to me that they can run their own subscription (although who knows – Beauty Bar may still be running it!). I’m looking forward to the upcoming months!
