wine awesomenessWine Awesomeness is a wine club that’s sort of like a subscription box  – the wines are really well curated around a cool theme.

You’ll get 3 (or 6, depending on your choice) wines every month or every quarter, depending on how often you’d like to receive it. The 3 bottle box costs $45, and the 6 bottle box is $75. Currently I’m subscribed to the 3 bottle white (which includes sparkling and rosé) Wine Awesomeness Discovery Box. It’s totally awesome.IMG_3617

The May Theme was Backyard BBQ. Every month you don’t just get 3 “really good” bottles of wine, you got 3 really good bottles curated around a specific theme along with an introduction to the theme, very readable educational materials about all the grapes in this region or the theme, and page by page introductions to each wine.

This is such a great, accessible mini-mag. This is my favorite wine subscription because of the theme and the magazine.

Each wine information page includes the following:

  • Wine Name
  • Grape
  • Location
  • What you should do while drinking this wine (many tongue in cheek)
  • What to eat with the wine
  • What to listen to while you drink the wine
  • A cool chart showing a visual on the Acid, Body, Tannin, and Fruit of the wine (this is new!)
  • Wine Bouquet
  • Tasting Notes
  • Description
  • Recipe

Not only was this super informational, it helps you learn about wine in a really low key way.

La Rambaa Cava – So dry and so good! This was a super brut (brut nature) which means absolutely no added sugar! Nice and bubbly, it was the perfect accompaniment for light summer dinner fare.

2012 Natural Condición Albariño – Fruity, sweet, and acidic all at once. We used the accompanying notes and made sure to drink this one post-dinner, and it was perfect. Very Riesling like, and this grape (Albariño) is similar, if not the a cultivar, of the Riesling varietal. Very cool!

2013 Watts Up Rosé – One of the things I love about the white wine subscription for this box (remember you can get 3 reds, 3 whites, or both together) is that it includes rosés and sparkling. This is a special collab between Ben Watts & Wine Awesomeness! Described as a kickass summer wine, it really is!  I kept the bottle, I just adored it! I may get another just to display, because I like the pink 🙂 Not too sweet but very fruity!

I always have great wine and learn something new with my Wine Awesomeness box!
