olfactif review

This month of Olfactif was quite uncharacteristic – 3 floral scents (usually the fragrances are so offbeat that there’s no “traditional” floral scents at all). Olfactif is a monthly unisex fragrance discovery subscription box. You’ll get 3 samples in your box, each containing 15-20 “wears” of an independently designed perfume. With every box, your account will be credited with an $18 voucher to use on fragrances from the store. Olfactif‘s focus is on niche fragrance, so you’ll see different & unique scents, higher quality and hard-to-find ingredients.

If you aren’t used to sniffing perfumes, there’s a basic information card on how to do it! My husband is really great at deciphering scents.

Olfactif has the most unique & awesome packaging. I adore the slide-out box. The information card for the fragrances is tucked inside.

The flip side of the information card lists the name of the perfume, the creator, and the notes.

Lime, Gardenia & Benzoin by Dame Perfumery Scottsdale. Creator Jeffrey Dame’s approach to perfume is to make it beautiful, make it enjoyable to wear, and call it like it is. In this latest release, we find a gorgeous gardenia perfect for warm weather. Hello, summer crush.
Scarlet Larkspur by Ineke. If you want to find the delicate scarlet larkspur flower in the wild, you’ll need to hike up the north-facing hills of California’s southern coast. Barring that, grab this bottle of Scarlet Larkspur from San Francisco-based perfumer Ineke and see what you’re missing.
Dirty Flower Factory by Kerosene Fragrances.
Dirty Flower Factory is an elegant, full, floral with tremendous presence and a touch of grit. Its initial blast is bright and beautiful, but—as the name suggests—there is nuance hidden under the layers and layers of blooms.

The Lime, Gardenia, and Benzoin smelled exactly right – almost like a honeydew ripening. The Scarlet Larkspur had a red berry smell and when I put on Dirty Flower Factory, I was “this is a hot mess!” My  husband said, “wow, that’ is all over the place!” It totally smelled like a florist’s entire inventory got whacked up and thrown together. It smoothed out into a nice floral concoction.

This box was a win – great florals without being cloying. I love Olfactif’s curation and it’s exciting to me to try all these really boutique fragrances at a price that’s right.
