We were excited to see the March Bramble Box – it’s one of my daughter’s favorite boxes! Bramble Box is a monthly subscription box sending imaginative play kits to kids every month. You’ll get fun gender neutral play kits around a theme every month that will inspire your kids to creatively explore. Play, role play, and pretend play are all essential to achieving development milestones.
Such adorable packaging!
The theme for March was Bug Scientists! The kids got a cool activity book with stickers, an fun butterfly net complete with specimen jar and, of course, bugs — plus a beading craft. We like how the instructions (readable by your child or read to them) are really on their level without oversimplifying.
The March 2015 Bramble Box. This is just such a fun theme and our kids were so psyched to get in it.
The box contained sorting charts and bug identification guidance as well as open-end play guidance.
On the other side were some bug facts and information about sorting bugs. We used to have an entomologist next door neighbor so our kids are particularly enamored with bugs (but I think they all are!).
The bead craft has two options: a butterfly, or a simpler caterpillar.
Bug catching net – This tool is essential for bug catching, identifying, and sorting!
The specimen jar contained several plastic insect that the kids were challenged to categorize, distinguishing caterpillars, beetles, and the like from true bugs.
Take-Along Guide to Caterpillars, Bugs and Butterflies – This is a neat field guide for budding bug scientists.
It contained detailed illustrations and information about what the different bugs look like, what they eat, and their habitats.
She loved this one!
Learning how to identify bugs!
Tom’s mom helped with the craft and they had a lot of fun. It was easy to assemble, which is good for grandparents.
The finished butterfly craft
My kids love Bramble Box, and my daughter was particularly keen on this one. The take-along guide is a kid-oriented field guide and includes identification tips and other bug facts. Bramble Box always incorporates imaginative play, and the kids found a thousand things worthy of capturing with the net. The craft (bead and pipe cleaner butterfly) had a fallback option, a caterpillar, in case the former proved too challenging, which we liked! This box really is suitable for multiple ages.

Nice box. My boys love to collect bugs and other unfortunate animals they find in the backyard. LOL
