Light + Bark Candle Co. Winter Hideaway ($40) I am so ready for wintery candle scents, and Vellabox delivered the goods! Winter Hideaway has notes of birch, eucalyptus, and cedar along with spices and amber. I found it to smell a little sweet, a touch woodsy, warm, and generally uplifting and cozy, it smells wonderful to my nose! The candle is made with soy wax and is supposed to burn for around 80 hours. The label has red lettering so it even looks appropriate for the time of year.
Mini Wick Trimmer from Vella & Co. ($10) The bonus gift this month is a gold-toned wick trimmer for your candles. Leaving the wick too long isn’t great for the life of a candle, trimming it helps it burn cleaner and in an even manner. This one was a little stiff so a spritz of vegetable spray may help it move more easily. Also, I was afraid I had trimmed the wick too much, but I think it really did help it burn nicely.
What an adorable candle experience this month from Vellabox! I was quite happy with the Winter Hideaway candle from Light + Bark Candle Co. First of all, the bag the candle came in was full of different dogs, a nod to the fact that Light + Bark donates to an animal shelter. The tag on the jar was charming, with only red ink on a creamy white background it whispers rather than shouts that it’s the holiday season. The scent itself is one that I appreciated, I love all of the listed notes. I could smell it while it was burning, but only if I was in the immediate area, it didn’t have a lot of throw and that’s something that I don’t mind, as overly strong scents make me feel nauseous. Finally, the wick trimmer was the perfect accessory, as I sometimes forget that trimming helps my candles burn better and this one is petite and can sit next to my candles as a reminder before the next burn. All in all, this was a winderful scent for December, and looking at the other two candles sent, I bet they are just as amazing.
