This is one of the most fun boxes around. Unboxing the Bizarre is a box that celebrates wacky and off-the-wall holidays each month. There are two box options: the collectors series, which includes two salt & pepper shakers in it, and the regular bizarre holiday box, which can send anything based on wacky holidays from around the world. I get the standard bizarre holiday box.

I never know what to expect with this box. The boxes come in all sizes and this one wasn’t too deep but was really square and when I opened it up for my first look – I could see why.

Everything in the box! You can pretty much tell which one goes with which holiday when you look at them.

October 6th Mad Hatter Day:
Alice’s Holiday Tea Party Mug by Paul Cardew ($9.49) – A Disney reference and you’ve got me already. This mug is really cute and I love the little swirl out at the top with the writing inside. The info card gives the details on where Mad Hatter came from, which I actually knew but I love how they give the details on the origin and also some ideas on how to celebrate.
Unfortunately, the mug in my box was broken when I opened it up. However, they quickly sent me out a replacement and it came with the cutest card. The second one came all wrapped up and with so many squiggles in the box, there was no way it was moving. They even got it out before Hurricane Matthew had them all hunkered down for the storm. Thumbs up for their amazing customer service!

October 8th World Octopus Day:
10.5″ Octopus Dinner Plate ($24.98) – My totally favorite item in the whole box. I had no clue this was a holiday but they could really send me an octopus item each month and I would love it. The turquoise color of this plate is so pretty and I love the off center octopus. I’m not planning on using this as a plate but I’m going to get a plate stand and add this to the display on my mantle.

October 9th Fire Protection Day:
Fire Department Wall Clock ($14.99) – This was the big item I could see on the top of my box and I did a little chuckle. My stepdad is actually an engineer that specializes in Fire System design so this is going straight over to him. I did not know about this holiday but I’m sure he has heard of it and this will look great in his office.

October 25th International Artists Day:
Royal Brush Venice Bridge Sketching Made Easy Kit ($8.88) – This is beautiful and so detailed. Unfortunately, while I’m a huge crafter, I’m just not a big drawer. My sister, however, is a great drawer and I’m putting this in my gift bag for her so that I can mail her a goodie bag up to college. I do love this holiday and I fully plan to take advantage and make some scrappy pages on the 25th to celebrate. I also love one of their suggested ways to celebrate is to support local artists. I’m a huge supporter of our local arts and artists in my area and it is such a great way to get so many unique items.
This box always makes me smile. I have never heard about most of these holidays but I’m sure glad to celebrate them in any way I can. I like how the information cards give details on the origins of the holidays and also gives us some ideas on how to celebrate if you are at a loss for ideas. I’m a bit obsessed with my octopus plate and I’m smiling just thinking about getting it displayed. This box truly is bizarre and unusual and is guaranteed to make you chuckle as you go through it.
