There is an exclusive $5 coupon at the back of the booklet. These coupons aren’t stackable from one month to the next. BUT there’s free shipping on all Macy’s Beauty orders. Check out these categories sorted from low to high price: Bath & Body, Natural Beauty, Makeup, Skincare, and Travel-size.
I was pretty bummed to see the coupon code go back to $5. I loved the $10 off – who wouldn’t?
Everything in the December 2017 Macy’s Beauty Box!
Makeup Bag. It’s big enough for keeping all the items from this month’s box. The bag features big floral prints plus this month’s theme written in a lovely script font! My favorite bag yet!
MAC Liptensity Lipstick Sample Card in Shades: Doe, Smoked Almond, & Mulling Spices.
The sample card includes 3 season appropriate shades.
They’re shaped and packaged like candy tablets. On the left is Doe, a creamy neutral brown shade. Next is Smoked Almond, a bright rose-brown. Lastly, there’s Mulling Spices, a burgundy brown-red.
The samples are all well-pigmented with a satin finish. Swatches below.
NudeStix Intense Matte Lip & Cheek Pencil In Belle ($18?) It’s a matte lipstick, lip liner, and cheek blush pencil in one!
FYI – this looks half size and we finally found a full size NudeStix that comes in the tin to compare it to. It seems as though the retail packaged item has some extra parts on the end, plus this one doesn’t come with the sharpener. So I’m knocking $6 off the price, but am satisfied that this seems to be full even though at first glance it’s not.
Belle is a cool toned rosy mauve with matte finish. The formula is non-drying and long-wearing and super creamy.
Here are the swatches! On the topmost is Nudestix, followed by the samples from MAC: Doe, Smoked Almond, and Mulling Spices. I think from the swatches you can tell that Nudestix is creamier; MAC is glossier.
Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream ($8.25) This concentrated hyaluronic acid cream gives the skin intense hydration by transforming atmospheric vapor into water. The formula glides smoothly on the skin and gets absorbed easily. It’s great as a standalone moisturizer, but works great under makeup too. I love it – and so does Macy’s (they seem to have a bit of an obsession with water and gel creams and that’s 100% ok with me!).
CHANEL La Creme Main Hand Cream ($5.50) This moisturizing hand cream has a smooth texture which doesn’t leave any sticky residue. It also includes brightening properties and rose wax to form a protective layer. Unsurprisingly this hand cream is also targeted at aging hands and helps attack dark spots.
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Concentrate Matrix ($23) This serum is formulated to provide nourishment on the skin around the eyes. With a 1/3 size of $69 product – this one is really pricey!
Packed with hyaluronic acid, it helps in reducing the look of lines and wrinkles, as well as puffiness and dark circles. Just a little dab works wonders, so one bottle will go a long way. Good thing with that price!
Tory Burch Perfume ($2) It’s a very light citrusy fragrance with notes of neroli, grapefruit, cassis, bergamot, peony, tuberose, jasmine sambac, vetiver, and sandalwood.
It’s a fresh scent, ideal for wearing whether day or night.
Compared to last month’s box, this month’s curation from Macy’s had it’s ups and downs. I think it was very odd to have the three dot lipstick sample, but especially when combined with the Nudestix. The samples go pretty far, but I would expect that in a $10 bag not a $15 one. However, with the really impressive value of this bag – almost $55 – I think I can be ok with that. They still have a lot to keep up with, especially in terms of value and content, but after taking a look at all my goodies I’m no longer so bummed about losing the extra $5 bonus on the coupon!

I wanted the to try the Macy’s box as soon as I herd about it. So I got it wasn’t impressed so I went online and canceled. Well they sent me another one even though I canceled and customer service told me some bill sh*t and that this is now my last box. Well guess what another one came next month. Oh the second month they actually sent me two boxes I was charged for both. So after 4 months a total of 6 boxes I canceled my Macy’s credit card, I’ve been with Macy’s since the 80’s. It was only way to stop even though they still try to send me boxes. I get emails every month to update my billing information for that stupid box. The whole experience was unbelievably unprofessional. Each time I called customer service I was basically told the same bull, they made it seem like I didn’t cancel even though it said I did on the web site. The whole experience really changed my view of Macy’s who is going out of business eventually anyway.
