Mancera Black Vanilla Eau De Parfum ($105 for 60ml) is a deeply floral scent with dark vanilla at its heart. Some of the other scent notes here are black currant, Bulgarian rose, and white musk. This starts out as a strong, heady fragrance for the first few hours before mellowing into something sweet and warm (and then it lasts for a long time). Projection is moderate, I’m not sure I would wear this on a plane or to the office, but it would be perfect for date night.
Mancera Melody Of The Sun Eau De Parfum ($180 for 120ml) was the fragrance from this month’s trio that was perfect for summer, it was lighter in body than the other two reviewed. It has notes of lemon, green tea, and amber and has a powdery, soapy note that wasn’t listed but which makes it smell clean. It is fresh, floral, green (if that makes sense), and just a bit musky. It smells like summer but without the smell of the ocean or sunscreen that traditionally shows up in “summer” fragrances. Longevity is decent, projection is short, and it can be worn anywhere.
Mancera Red Tobacco Eau De Parfum ($105 for 60ml) Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner! This was my favorite of this month’s trio, and I must say it was the last scent I tried, based on the spray-on-a-tissue sample I smelled when I first received my box in the mail. According to Fragrantica this is a woody spicy fragrance and I am loving it. It has notes of incense, oud, patchouli, vanilla, musk, amber, and tobacco. At first spray I was worried, it smelled spicy, warm, sweet, and raunchy, but in the nicest possible way. Leather wasn’t listed, yet that’s what I smelled as a top note. Projection, longevity, they were both strong — I’m sure my shirt will still smell like this in the morning. However when those top and middle notes wore off, I had a lovely sweet vanilla scent that was comforting to my nose. I wouldn’t wear it to work, but this is wonderful, animalic, and yet sweet. Super sexy too!
LUXSB has access to lots of luxury fragrance brands, and Mancera never fails to excite! I was thrilled to try three new-to-me fragrances from this brand, since I know that they would be long-lasting, sexy, and bold. My favorite from this batch was Red Tobacco, which starts off incredibly strong and then within a couple of hours I have a sweet, warm vanilla to last until evening. I also enjoyed Melody of the Sun, which was a lovely fresh floral and perfect for even the hottest summer days. Black Vanilla was yet another winner, with a whole other ending from Red Tobacco, yet it’s also sweet and warm. LUXSB is a great way to explore different fragrances from niche brands at a bargain price. They send enough in one vial to get your through the month, and it’s TSA compliant too!
