Andrea Maack Jest ($31.95 for 9ml) I was drawn to this scent and I think it is perfect for the colder weather, because this fragrance is HOT! Jest is an oriental vanilla scent that has plenty of musk to keep it from becoming a super sweet gourmand. The listed scents include plum, apple, rum, chocolate, vanilla, and ambroxan and it lasts forever on my skin, and I have the feeling I may still smell it on my shirt after running it through the wash. If I sniff very deeply I can pick up a woodsy note but this scent is probably best left for date night or for wearing around the house, it’s a bold choice and will get noticed. By evening I was left with a warm vanilla musk that left me feeling like I had a warm hug at the end of the day.

Andrea Maack Solstice ($31.95 for 90ml) A spritz of Solstice is like walking into a field of white florals, although shortly after that if you sniff really closely you will catch a bright burst of melon. The notes in this lovely blend include watermelon, marine notes, jasmine, lily-of-the-valley, amber, and something called sinfonide, which I’ve never heard of before but which provides a warm, clean, musky scent, like laundry or warm skin. Solstice is bright and fresh and the musk doesn’t weigh it down, I can see myself wearing this in the spring and summer. I’m not sure that it smells like a day at the beach like the one below might but it sure makes me happy when I’m wearing it.

Andrea Maack Osmo ($31.95 for 90ml) Osmo is a floral aquatic scent but at first blast I swear it smelled warm and sweet, like toasting marshmallows by the fireside. Then it turned all white floral, green notes, with some bright blue beachy vibes minus the sunscreen note that some aquatics have. Some of the listed notes include pink pepper, orange, jasmine, orris, oakmoss, and musk. Something that I love about niche fragrance is that it might smell like one thing at first blast but as the day goes on and those top and middle notes disappear, what you’re left with may smell entirely different.

I was thrilled to try three scents from new-to-me Andrea Maack, and they were all three bold and long-lasting. Andrea Maack is a visual artist from Iceland and her scents are mostly organic and come from Grasse, France, which is well-known for their fragrances. The base of all of her scents is Icelandic alcohol and Icelandic water, and when non-organic scent ingredients are used it’s in place of rare plants that could be damaged by harvesting as they’re non sustainable in the long term. I made sure to wear each fragrance at least twice on non-consecutive days and passed along Solstice to my daughter, as she prefers floral scents and I like a bit of spice and woodsy notes. Jest had that in spades, it’s perfect for colder weather and snuggling on the couch with a hot drink in hand. Then there’s Osmo, which smelled both warm and comforting and then cool and bright, perfect for a typical winter day in Austin, where it’s currently 78 outside and will continue being warm for the rest of the week of Christmas. LUXSB sends enough perfume to spray a couple of times a day and that should last the month, but I must say, all of these Andrea Maack scents lasted the entire day long, and well into evening without a repeat spray. If you are looking for a huge assortment of fragrance for men or women then check out LUXSB!
