Fit Snack is a monthly subscription box delivering healthy nutritious snacks directly to your door. Every month, expect 7-10 full-size items plus samples of delicious and healthy snack foods.

Fit Snack curates its boxes according to the following criteria:

  • Each product always containing two or more of the following: GMO-free, high in protein, low in sugar, gluten free, organic, raw, vegan and all natural.
  • Plus, we add in bonus items such as energy boosters, nutritional supplements, or refreshing beverages.
  • Finally, we find a little space for exclusive workouts, workout gear or other active lifestyle inspiration.

Here’s a peek at everything in the April box. I’m excited that this month’s box has more snack food – the last few month’s I’ve been disappointed by the amount of non-food… like supplements or energy drinks. This month seems to have some great items!

One thing that was missing, however, from my April box was the information card. Typically, Fit Snack boxes include an information card that includes a workout routine on one side of the card and product details on the other side. I’m pretty good at figuring out what snack items are, so I wasn’t too concerned about the lack of the card this month.

Rise Buddy Rice Crisps: Fit Snack has included these rice crisps before and I’m a big fan. Previously, I’ve only tried the sea salt flavor, which is good, but I really like the pizza flavor crisp included this month. These are a great alternative to chips!

Buff Bake Protein Cookies: These were a new snack to me. I was a little worried because I don’t usually think protein and cookie in the same thought… but these were both really good. I preferred the White Chocolate Peanut Butter flavored cookie, but the Snickerdoodle was good too. There was no weird protein taste – basically these are just incredibly dense cookies. (Also, even though it’s one giant cookie in the package, it is 2 servings worth). I’d definitely eat these again.

Keen One Chipotle Quinoa Cup: I have had these quinoa cups before. While they aren’t my favorite snack, I think these quinoa cups make a great emergency lunch – easy to stash in your desk and “cook” up when you don’t have a chance to go out for lunch or if (like I do way too often) you leave your packed lunch sitting on the kitchen counter at home. The chipotle flavor is good and it is quite filling.

Tera’s Active Nutrition Recovery Blend: I’m a big fan of recovery smoothies, and this mix from Tera’s Active Nutrition makes it super easy. In addition to protein, this blend includes coconut water, which is pretty cool (and doesn’t make the smoothie taste weird).

Nutiva Organic Hazelnut Spread: Holey cow. This is my most favorite thing in the whole world. OK, maybe not quite that good… but one of the best things that Fit Snack has ever sent me. Who doesn’t like chocolate hazelnut spread, especially if it’s organic and has less sugar than other similar spreads? And it’s DELICIOUS. I love that they included both travel packets (I like to eat these before races) and a full sized jar (which I promise not to eat in a single sitting). I am so happy!

RxBar Protein Bar: As far as protein bars go, this one is very tasty. Since it’s made of real food, it doesn’t have a weird flavor like some protein bars do. In fact, the chocolate sea salt flavor is pretty good – with the nuts and chocolate flavoring, you can almost (almost!) pretend this is a candy bar. But it’s got lots of protein, so it’s like a candy bar you can feel good about.

Viter Energy Breath Mints: I’m not much of a mint fan, but I think caffeinated mints could definitely be useful! I look forward to trying these out sometime, maybe during a longer run.

As I mentioned above, I had been disappointed in the last few Fit Snack boxes, but this month’s box was so much better. I really enjoyed most of the items and, more importantly, the items (other than the mints) were real food — snacks that I can count on to tide me through a workout or a long afternoon or even lunch. That is what originally drew me to Fit Snack – but I felt like they had gotten away from that idea recently. I’m glad to say, at least with the April box, it’s back to what I expected. Plus chocolate hazelnut spread. Mmmmm.
