GlobeIn Benefit Basket December 2015 quote

The theme for December was CELEBRATE.

Isn’t it nice to think that celebration, in one way or another, has been a hallmark of humanity since our earliest ancestors? As a species, we are instinctually compelled to whoop it up every once and awhile over something we feel grateful for.

This month’s collection of wares celebrates this capacity for cheer, and the idea that celebrations come in all shapes and sizes—big or small, public or private, annual or daily or once in a lifetime.

I’ve already reviewed the full December 2015 Artisan gift box, this is a mini-version!

Along with your basket you’ll receive one featured item from the full Artisan gift box, plus the story of the artisans who made your products.

GlobeIn Benefit Basket December 2015 review

GlobeIn Signature Palm Leaf Basket from Oaxaca, Mexico ($12) The familiar lidded basket is back! Last month’s squared-off-corner basket had no lid. I like both – maybe they could alternate between them! I was happy to get a purple basket in my Benefit Basket. I love purple and I think it really sets off the color of the table runner.

GlobeIn Benefit Basket December 2015 information

The information card described the social conditions under which seamstresses are trained in Ghana – they must pay tuition to a sewing Madame for 2 years, and they work unpaid.

Della is a socially responsible fashion line whose employees receive a steady, fair income and various educational opportunities. Della employees also teach their skills in a local orphanage – which is an interesting way to perhaps eventually end this sort of labor arrangement.

Hand-dyed Batik Table Runner by Della ($35) Every one of these batiked table runners is unique, although they all feature the same color and pattern.

I was surprised to find that the back is a pretty gray with white polka dots!

It’s very large, and really pretty! I love all the variations in design and pattern made by the batik stamps.

I particularly loved Globein’s product photo showing this in use. The table runner is a symbol of nourishment and abundance and perfect for a celebration.
