Gentleman’s Box is a monthly men’s subscription box – including the required essentials for the savvy man. While every box previously included a copy of GQ, it will now be delivered separately to subscribers. Boxes contain selected items ranging from style to grooming. Each month honors a male archetype that may or may not bring an actual celebrity to mind.
The new square box is more conducive to neat wrapping of the contents.
This month is dedicated to “Our Favorite Traveling Gentleman”- George Clooney! Instead of the simple informational card in previous boxes the subscription now includes an entire booklet, “The Gentlemen’s Post.” The expanded format allows a little more praise and info on the honoree.
The Post includes a new curator’s letter, information on the inspiration, the contents, details on every item, and the Gentleman’s Tip for the month. They also added an interview with a Gentleman’s Box subscriber. The new box makes for a neater presentation — and no more rolled GQs! Also, there is more room for style guides, tips, and other cool extra features that didn’t make it onto the card.
Here’s everything in this month’s box except the copy of GQ ($6), now mailed separately to subscribers.
eBarbershop Pocket Comb ($10): A comb can be as nearly personal a product as a toothbrush, so it is always good to have your own. This one has the classic dual-size configuration an is perfectly sized for carrying around on your person. It makes a great beard comb, too!
English Laundry Eau de Parfum Notting Hill: I love, love, love English Laundry fragrances. Notting Hill has a light, warm scent with a hint of musk and green orange. Funny enough, given the name of the company, but it actually smells like the best smelling freshly-laundered sheets you’ve ever smelled.
Jack Black Supreme Cream Triple Cushion Shave Lather: Shimmering silvery white, Supreme Creme has a light, neutral scent. It’s not particularly slippery, and it lathers like a soap to lubricate.
Woodchuck USA Wooden Luggage Tag ($30): this sturdy wooden tag has a beautiful belt-style fastener, and the design is cut and stained into the wood.
Woodchuck is an American-made product. The tag is meant to be distinctive and allow you to readily identify your luggage. There is no place for your actual information, but one could certainly break out the wood burning kit to add some.
Kiko Leather Passport Holder ($35): This is made from a combination of real, pebbled leather and thick felt. The front has two credit card sized pockets to hold your other cards.
Happy Socks Striped Socks ($12): Made from combed cotton, these are stretchy and comfy. I love the palette on this pair, and the white areas really set off the colors.
I like the balance that Gentleman’s Box has — they keep the grooming products to a minimum. Because of the travel theme, there were more practical versus decorative accessories among the selections this month.
