The box includes recipes and fresh ingredients for your meals, the latter packed safely in a soft-sided cooler bag. The food is set atop a cardboard barrier, preventing any frost damage to the more delicate veggies from the ice in the lower compartment. The meat is packed in the bottom, so it stays very cold.

On-card information is streamlined and includes only prep-time, number of servings and calorie count. Most of Plated’s meals serve two people. Unless stated otherwise, our pics of finished dishes show a single serving.

Each Plated dish has its own recipe card with a beautiful photo showing a plating suggestion for the completed dish.

Plated’s recipes often rely on mise en place, prepping everything before cooking. We’ve always been willing to shift steps around when it’s more efficient, and Plated sometimes does this too, getting you started on long lead-time items ahead of general prep. For most recipes, you’ll want to have a sharp knife and cutting board, a range and oven, mixing bowls, pans, pots, and cookie sheets. You’ll also occasionally need a colander, whisk, peeler, etc., but you can usually improvise on any items beyond that.

All the food comes bagged up and separated (mostly) into the recipes – meat and some large or delicate items are bagged separately. The recipe cards tell you anything you need from home – usually just cookware, salt and pepper, and some olive oil – occasionally you’ll need an egg.

Everything in the box!

Italian Cheeseburgers with Mozzarella, Pesto and Nectarines – 30 minutes, Easy, 850 calories per serving

For this quick and easy dish, they provided us with nectarine, tomatoes, mozzarella, garlic, ground beef, ciabatta buns, pesto, white wine vinegar, baby arugula, and balsamic glaze.

According to the recipe guide, the key to making this dish tasty is in the way you cook the patty and toast the buns. You can toast the buns for 4-6 minutes with low-medium heat or until golden brown.

I love the classic American cheeseburger, but I don’t mind trying other versions as well. This one is an Italian-style cheeseburger and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Instead of the usual cheddar cheese and mustard, we only used sliced mozzarella which is quite soft and milky.

The cheeseburger sandwich is superb! The beef patty is meaty and I’m glad it came out juicy as well. The buns were just the way we like them, a bit crunchy on the outside but soft inside. Pairing this cheeseburger with the veggie salad is the best idea ever. The balsamic glaze made it even tastier.

Crispy Mozzarella-Stuffed Chicken with Spinach Salad and Pesto Dressing – 35 minutes, Medium, 760 calories per serving

For the second recipe, we were provided with spinach, tomatoes, lemon, pesto, flour, cayenne pepper, breadcrumbs, boneless chicken breasts, and shredded mozzarella cheese.

To make the filling creamier, just add a bit more of mozzarella inside the chicken breast.

This scrumptious dish is made with boneless chicken breasts stuffed with mozzarella cheese. Each piece is also coated with tasty breadcrumbs. They’re served with a healthy combination of spinach and grape tomatoes squeezed with lemon wedges. All that’s missing is a glass of chilled red wine!

Plated keeps sending delicious and easy-to-prepare dishes in every box! Their ingredients always arrive at their best condition, and we haven’t got any delivery-damage issues in ages. Of course, I also appreciate the inclusion of the illustrated recipe cards. They’re quite detailed and easy to understand and follow. It’s a truly reliable subscription for those who like to have a completely filling and satisfying dinner. I’m certainly looking forward to more wonderful dishes from Plated!
