“California lifestyle – delivered.” Yes, please!

My items were covered with beautiful paper that looks like it might be seeded. I will try planting it in my garden – at the very least, it will be composted! There was a flower sticker closure.

My items were tucked into white paper squiggles and the glass items were safe in bubble wrap.

Everything in my December 2017 California Found box! I was born and raised in Southern California and was so excited to receive this special box from my wonderful home state!

I spotted these cards as soon as I opened the box and the band that was wrapped around them was embedded with wildflower seeds.

There were 7 cards in this grouping – one about the December box, the other 6 introducing the featured artists and their items that were sent this month. California Found donates 10% of their profits to charitable organizations. This month’s proceeds are going towards wildfire relief efforts. If you find a product or maker that you really like, then you can use the included coupon codes to save on a purchase on their websites.

I am so pleased with this box, and I haven’t even tried anything yet! Let’s get started!

LKLYDesigns Mini Basket in Hot Pink ($18) One of the items from this month’s box was tucked into this handmade basket and that got me to thinking – if you wanted to make an organized grouping on a dresser or bookcase, you could get several of these baskets and then pop the items in and make a matching display!

The basket is hand-made of jute and hemp and is about 3 inches tall and 3 inches wide across the opening.

Hmm, what should I do with this? I could set it on my dresser and place my rings inside, or place it on my desk for little items such as paperclips, or place my little air plant inside, so many choices! Made in Los Angeles.

My next item came in its own little bag.

The Hundreth Acre Candle in Malibu ($25) I’ve only been to Malibu once but it sure was beautiful! This scent is in tribute to The Hundreth Acre’s hometown and features notes of jasmine, sea salt, and sweet cream. It doesn’t smell like a typical “beach” scent, which often has a bit of eau de Coppertone, but is very floral and sweet.

Here is a slightly different view of the embossed silver label, which isn’t pink as the prior picture suggests. The candle is poured into a clear glass apothecary jar and would go with any room decor or color.

There is a candle cover cut from a vintage book over the wick, which I removed before burning. The candle is made of soy wax and is hand poured in small batches and should burn for at least 50 hours. The fragrance is phthalate-free and the candle is cruelty-free. The cold throw from this candle is amazing – I could smell it from the next room over, and that was before I even lit it up! Made in Malibu.

Inky Mess Press Venice Beach Scenic Greeting Card Collection ($20) A trip to my home state is never complete without a visit to the beach, so these cards really speak to me!

The set includes four cards and four envelopes, each made out of kraft paper and blank on the inside.

The colors and details are amazing and I think they are beautiful. The only thing I can’t figure out is why they smell like Pine-Sol. They have a very strong scent and I wonder if it has to do with the ink, paper, or maybe the plates themselves? Not sure, but it is distracting and I can’t imagine giving one away smelling like that. Made in Venice.

Just Jan’s Seedless Raspberry Spread ($6.95) I love a good jam and this one is absolutely delicious!

Just a few all-natural ingredients go into this fruity jam.

The flavor is bright and just right, not overly sweet or jellied like the stuff from the store. I tried it right off of the spoon but this would be lovely on scones, biscuits, sourdough toast, or thumbprint cookies. Check out their website for recipes. Made in Calabasas.

ADME Apothecary Charcoal & Lavender Facial Exfoliant ($32) I love natural beauty products and this was exactly what I look for in skin care – cruelty-free, vegan, and all-natural! Only three ingredients are in this scrub/mask – powdered lavender, French green clay, and charcoal. It is also handmade in small batches.

Lavender may help calm irritated skin while clay draws out impurities, as does the charcoal. Mix your desired amount with a bit of water and use as an exfoliator or let it sit on skin until dry, then rinse away! I used it as an exfoliator and it was only lightly abrasive and smelled wonderful. I would suggest leaving it on as a mask to take advantage of the properties of the clay and lavender. Made in Fresno.

This last item came in its own box!

K. Leone Designs 14K Gold-Fill Freshwater Pearl Necklace I couldn’t find this product for sale on the K. Leone website but according to the card it is $42.

The card says this necklace is gold-filled, which means the outer surface is solid gold while the inside is a base metal.

There is a freshwater pearl in the middle and I would say this is a delicate, everyday sort of necklace. It is 17 inches long and the pearl is fixed in the middle. The pearl itself is about as big as a candy pearl you might find on a fancy cupcake. Very cute and I know my daughters will like it, although I think it’s adorable too! From Los Angeles.

In case you can’t already tell, I really adored my first California Found box! The presentation was beautiful and I felt like I had received an upscale box. I thought that the individual cards were a nice touch and I read them before trying each product. I love my home state and enjoyed trying these items from her talented makers. I like that there was a variety of items – jewelry, skin care, food, stationary, and home goods. Each item was of exceptionally good quality, although the greeting cards were oddly scented. My December box had a value of $143.95! Wow, that’s amazing! If you want to send or receive a box of carefully curated items from California then please check out California Found!
