Each month the candle arrives dressed in a reusable, sturdy cloth bag. The pattern or color changes each time.
Amalfi Coast Candle ($28 for an 8 ounce candle) I received the candle for those who like their candles to have citrus notes (but oh how I would have liked to have received the one called Petrichor!). The scent of this candle are supposed to invoke the feeling of being on the Mediterranean Sea, with notes of lemon, jasmine, and sea salt (and those notes also remind me of Southern California!). This candle is made of soy wax and has a burn-time of around 80 hours, plenty of evenings where I can burn it and feel transported to the coast.
Bonus Item: Brass Bookmark Clip ($10) A brass bookmark is the extra item this month. It may be hard to tell from the picture but it has a book + candle = smiley face illustration and is quite sizeable. I pretty much only read books on my iPad nowadays (I got used to it when my library closed for Covid) but my daughter still reads paper books so maybe she can get some use out of it, or I guess I can use it with my cookbooks!
The Amalfi Coast candle from Fjord & Fable in the June Vellabox packed a powerful punch of fragrance that carried over from my kitchen to my living room. I’m not sure that Amalfi Coast smells like any of the listed scent notes but it seemed to be a sweet floral, and both of the other family members in the house stated that they enjoyed the scent. I thought it was perfect for the warmer months but then again, this would probably work all year long too. The brass bookmark clip was a worthy pairing, because reading and burning candles go together so well, along with a cup of tea, hot or iced, but maybe that’s just my idea of a relaxing moment.
