VINEBOX curates wine tastings for you every month, no visit to a winery needed – it’s delivered to your door! I received a Mystery Box of six different wines and tasted my way through them with my husband and we enjoyed comparing notes. We would taste a couple of them a week to make the experience last.

La Grondaia (Taste of Italy) The tasting notes mentioned stone fruits and said this was medium- to full-bodied and it’s made with 100% Montepulciano grapes. I thought it was medium-bodied and didn’t have a lot of tannins, no mouth puckering occurred. It was fruity with a floral aroma, and I tasted plums and raisins.

2019 Altomare Placido Volpone (Taste of Italy) I prefer white wines and this was my favorite of the wines I sampled this month! Tasting notes mentioned exotic fruits with hints of citrus and that sounded wonderful to me. I was surprised to find that the wine was lightly effervescent, I felt like I was at a party in the middle of the week. Sure enough there were tropical fruit flavors with mild acidity and the wine was light in body. My husband said it was like champagne, I say a less-sweet moscato but most of all this wine was fun!

2020 Lagar de Brais Ribiero (Taste of Spain) is made of three different types of grapes: Palomino, Treixadura, and Torrontes. Tasting notes said this white had notes of green apple and citrus with the scent of cut grass. It was light in body with a slight anise flavor. My husband said it was tasty, rich, and flavorful and that it was easy to drink.

2019 Chateau Fredignac Bordeaux (Taste of France) is comprised of a blend of three different grapes (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc) and was described as fruity and juicy (yum!). It wasn’t overly tannic, had a medium body, and was indeed fruity but with a smokey, oaky flavor, like a wood fire. It was a beautiful color in the glass too.

Baldovino Nero d’Avola (Taste of Italy) is made from a single type of grape that’s grown only in Sicily and promised flavors of cherry and strawberry. It was full of juicy berry flavors, very fruity, with a medium body, balanced tannins, and was smooth and dry.

2019 Le Canon du Bon Jaja (Taste of France) is a Bordeaux made from two varieties of grape (Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon) and was supposed to taste fruity and smokey and even like cherry pie in a glass! This was a smooth sip and very dry, and I could definitely taste the smoke.

I had a great time working my way through the wines in my Mystery Box from Vinebox! Vinebox curates a collection of wines to a theme each month, and then you can read all about them online and compare your tasting notes to those provided by Vinebox. The drinks come in small vials so there’s no worries if you don’t care for one, you can pop the lid back on and use it for cooking within a few days, but all of these wines were so good that my husband and finished them on the nights we tried them, no leftovers to be had. We took our time with these, drinking one bottle every few nights, but of course you could also have a wine tasting and try them all at once. The notes provided by Vinebox also includes food pairings to enhance the experience.

Below is the box that shows how my wines were packed and please keep in mind that someone aged 21+ must be home to sign for the wine, or you can have your delivery sent to a pickup point so you can get it on your own schedule.

Vinebox is a wine subscription service known for providing single-serving glass vials of wine instead of full-sized bottles. Subscribers receive a curated selection of wines from different regions, allowing them to explore various flavors and styles. Each vial contains one glass of wine, and tasting notes are provided to enhance the experience. The service offers convenience and the chance to try a variety of wines without committing to entire bottles.
