Vegan by Happy Skin Dragon Fruit BHA Clay Mask ($44.14) This is the “hero” item of the box and it’s supposed to be suitable for all skin types, although its primary purpose is to reduce blemishes and clear/tighten pores. It has BHA in the form of salicylic acid, which dissolves the “glue” that holds skin cells together, so those cells can be washed away. This ingredient is most helpful for those skin types mentioned above, so I will pass it along to someone who wants those benefits. I did try it on my chin and noticed that it didn’t dry down and was easy to rinse off, and smelled spicy (PSL?) but that’s due to it having parfum. It was also very slightly gritty.
Natura Body Lotion ($1.43) The card mentioned we would receive an exfoliating shower gel but I received a body lotion from the same brand that was listed. The scent is described as floral, woody, and amber with the addition of Tukuma pulp, the oil of which is considered an emollient, like most oils. Some of the other ingredients are glycerin, cupuaçu butter, and parfum, which is high up on the list of ingredients. The feel of the lotion is light and would be good for summer, except the scent is heavy and mature and probably best for colder times of the year. You won’t need a separate perfume.
Lotus.Eco 100% Organic Tampons ($4) You can purchase travel packs like this one that has three different levels of absorbency of these 100% organic tampons. It comes in Mini, Regular, and Super and these are the kind that don’t have an applicator, to further reduce waste.
BKind Vegan Nail Polish in Britney ($12) This shade is so shiny and cute, and it’s named after the pop princess from the ’90’s/00’s. Thankfully this glittery polish isn’t all that “Toxic” (he he) as it’s free from 21 ingredients that are normally found in nail polish such as formaldehyde and benzene.
Vegancuts sent four items this month and included a cute shimmery nail polish, a personal health product, a product for the face, and another for the body. My favorite item was the nail polish, and while I haven’t worn it yet, it’s time for sandals here in Austin so I look forward to seeing it sparkle in the sunlight when I’m outside. The rest of the items weren’t really doing it for me, so I passed them to my daughter, who was happy to take them when she visited for the weekend. I tried the mask and while it was fragranced, I didn’t seem to have a reaction but I didn’t feel like it did anything for my skin either. I have no use for the tampons (but appreciate that they have organic offerings these days) and I had to wash off the body lotion because the scent was too strong for my senses. The value for this month’s box was around $62, with most of the value coming from the mask.
