The January 2024 Vegancuts Beauty Box theme was New Year, New Beauty and they sent six beauty products, five of which are used on the face. You can expect to receive vegan and cruelty-free products (and Vegancuts offers a snack box too)! See what I received in this month’s box below!

NOTE: I received three out of five of the items listed on the info card, and had three substitutes in place of the missing two.

DEAL: Use the coupon code hellosub to get $5 off your first box on any Vegancuts subscription! It can only be used once per customer, but it can be used on multiple subscriptions at once so long as they are in the same transaction.

Proceeds from this box supports animals in need.

Vegajelly Petroleum Jelly ($5.95) is a natural alternative for petroleum jelly, made from vegetable oil. Which vegetable provided the oil? It doesn’t say, and I couldn’t find that info on the brand’s website. Which country provided the oil? It doesn’t mention that either, saying only domestic and imported materials. Anyway, it can be used on the face, heels, cuticles, etc. and has the texture of gritty petroleum jelly, although the grit goes away as you smooth the product on. UPDATE: I’ve tried applying this to my lips and my hands but by the time I rub away all of the grittiness, there’s virtually no product left on my skin.

BWC Facial Cleanser ($4.49) is scented with essential oils for aromatherapy benefits while cleansing your face. It’s suitable for normal to oily skin so therefore isn’t meant for my skin type but I did try it out, and it was gentle and worked well.

Dr. Botanicals Artichoke Superfood Firming Night Moisturizer ($9.90) is meant to be used before bed to help firm up normal to dry skin types. It has artichoke seed oil, which is supposed to leave the skin looking radiant and cucumber to improve tone and texture. It feels very creamy when applied but doesn’t leave a greasy feeling afterwards. It has the sweet scent of cucumber in perfume form, even though perfume isn’t listed.

Routine Sexy Sadie Mini Deodorant ($4) This sample might last for a few days, I think the idea is more to introduce the scent so you can order whichever one speaks to you. The deodorant has ingredients like coconut oil, kaolin, cornstarch, baking soda, and more and I absolutely love the scent, but then I love patchouli!

Hurraw! Vanilla Bean Lip Balm ($4) Subscribers will receive one of three different flavors and I got Vanilla Bean (the others are Chocolate or Mint). While I would have preferred mint, vanilla isn’t bad, although there’s almost a hint of root beer to this flavor (maybe I’m picking up the anise listed in the ingredients). Some of the oils in this balm are safflower, coconut, and cacao and it left a silky feeling on my lips.

Bellapierre Pro Blush Quad Palette ($25) I like some of the makeup I’ve tried from Bellapierre, but this blush isn’t one of those items. The color payoff wasn’t there for all but the darkest color, you can barely see the others in the swatch below. One is supposed to be highlighter and I can’t tell which one, because none of them seems to have any shimmer, they are all matte from what I can see. I don’t think these shades looked good on me and they were hard to access with my blush brush, but seriously, I ran my finger over the first three colors several times and could barely see the result.

Here’s those blush shades swatched.

The January Vegancuts Beauty Box came with some basics to clean, moisturize, and brighten my face, and a deodorant to keep me fresh. I especially liked the lip balm, I can always use more of that and have it stashed in various parts of my home. I also liked the cleanser, it worked well and didn’t dry out my skin. I want a perfume that smells like the Routine deodorant. The value for this box combo was around $53. Keep in mind that your box contents may vary, as three of the items I received were substitutes.
