The Ipsy Glam Bag theme for January 2024 was Glow Your Soul! I received a bag and five beauty products including a lip balm, eyeshadow brush, and more. Read on to see all of my beauty items!

Note: Ipsy sends many variations, so the bag I’m reviewing may not match everyone else’s. Also, my bag is sent for review, while subscribers get to choose an item for their bag and have their products curated to their beauty quiz!

Ipsy Glam Bag Our Glam Bag this month is lavender velvet with sequins! It’s a fun bag for sure, and the inside is lined with light pink polyester fabric (lighter than my picture).

FIRST AID BEAUTY Deep Cleanser with Red Clay ($2.55) I think this cleanser is meant for all skin types but dry and wouldn’t you know it, I have dry skin. It has illite clay, although the reddish color most likely comes from iron oxide. It has a strong herbal scent but no added fragrance. It did a good job of getting my face clean but it also left my skin extra dry and tight, but it’s supposed to be helpful for those with oily or acne-prone skin.

Aceology Berry Glaz Overnight Lip Mask I could only find this product online as a free gift with purchase at the Aceology website, although that product is 3 times as big and there doesn’t seem to be much in this tube. I guess “overnight lip mask” is the fancier name for “lip balm”. It’s berry scented and feels like petroleum jelly, with a base of chemical emollients along with plant oils and fragrance. I applied it before bed and noticed that it was gone well before morning but it’s fun to wear during the day and smells so good!

WINGME COSMETICS All Over Blending Brush ($23 listed value) I couldn’t find this brush at the brand’s website but they have some other brushes with the same iridescent handle and they call that series Halo. The brush itself is dense enough to pick up powder and deposit where you want but also worked well as a crease blender. I love having pretty brushes in my collection!

Lash Step Mascara ($21 listed value) Here’s another product that isn’t available at the brand’s website. The most exciting thing about this mascara is the interesting twisty bright pink container. The product was on the dry side which is fine, at least it didn’t clump and make a mess. It’s supposed to lengthen and volumize lashes in one coat but it didn’t and even two coats didn’t do much for my lashes. It’s pretty basic.

Toyfactory Ultraset Niacinamide Setting Powder in Translucent ($9.17) Setting powders aren’t my thing simply because I use a powder mineral base so it’s redundant. However, I recently ordered a foundation sample kit from Sephora so I can actually give it a try this month! Niacinamide is supposed to be good for the skin and reduce the appearance of pores. It was ok, it covered up my shine but I had actually put it there with highlighter so note to self, use highlighter last. It was hard to use in this tiny container, and my brush picked up tons of it so maybe keep a bigger lid nearby to capture the powder when you tap it off.

I like the mix of products I received in my January Ipsy Glam Bag! There was a cleanser, lip balm, shadow brush, mascara, and setting powder, all items that are rather universal in the beauty world. I especially liked the WINGME eye shadow brush, it worked well and looks pretty with its iridescent handle. The mascara was basic but that’s not necessarily a bad thing and the container is cool. I liked the berry-scented lip balm, it’s a fun flavor. The cleanser and setting powder are products I won’t use again, but then the cleanser isn’t for my skin type and the powder isn’t a product I use anyways. The value for my bag was hard to determine since the lip balm is one of those gift with purchase items, and sadly I think the value for the mascara and makeup brush are inflated, but it was fun trying new products and I got a sparkly bag, so it’s all worth well over the subscription price, which at $14 is one of the lowest priced beauty subscriptions.
