Cat Kit by Pusheen Box is a themed subscription box designed just for cats! For Winter 2023 they went with the theme HOME SWEET HOME and I found the items decorated in a pink and green color palette and some of the items adorning the items were peppermints, scarves, snowflakes, and stars. You can expect a collection of toys, grooming supplies, and more for cats to use, play, and enjoy each quarter. Scroll down to see what’s included in the Scaredy Cat box!

Ribbon Wand My cats sometimes like wands, and sometimes they don’t. They prefer the feathered kind most of the time. This one fits the season, sure, but it has a rattle sewn into the end and if you accidentally hit your cat with it, they’re not going to want to play with you, I’m sure it hurts! I will try dragging it along the floor rather than waving it in the air.

Wreath Plush Sometimes the toys seem too big for cats. This one and the one below are big, but I have actually watched them play with the gingerbread man. This has a crinkle texture inside. (Update: My grand dog found it and carried it around before using it as a chew toy, so it is no more. I’m glad it got some use though, and we took it away before he could bust the seams!).

Gingerbread Plush Again, this is a big toy, and it also has a crinkly texture inside, but at least this shape might work as a kicker toy. Both of my cats have managed to throw this in the air while they play with it.

Magnetic Picture Frame My daughter said she likes these large magnetic picture frames. They’re big, 7.5″ x 5.5″, and the opening isn’t quite 4″ x 6″, but that’s the size picture you should print out to display. Each frame consists of two pieces, the frame and a solid black backing. Just peel the top part off, insert picture, then place the top back on. You can then stick it to a metal surface such as a fridge or filing cabinet.

Hideaway Bed I think the idea here is that a cat will crawl inside, turn around to face front, and then take a nap or stalk some prey. It looks a little small for my cats, which weigh about 11-12 pounds each, and even though I sprinkled catnip inside, they didn’t seem to want to go in there for anything other than a sniff. The entrance has metal that you can bend to keep it open.

My grand dogs came over for Christmas and while we were eating we turned around to find that the pup had found this in another room and thought it would be great to play keep away with his older sister. If nothing else, seeing the dogs run around the couches at full speed while this one carried it in his mouth was hilarious! I took it away when play time was finished because it has metal in the edge and I didn’t want him to chew through and get hurt.

Pocket Quilted Puzzle Mat My daughter suggested putting pieces of kibble inside the pockets of this mat, then the cats can keep busy trying to fish it out when they want to play. I think Sunny (my orange cat) would like it better if it had the crinkly material, she seems happy to roll around on packing paper when it’s on the floor.

Above are some pictures of my cats enjoying their new toys. I sprinkled catnip in the hideaway bed and on the puzzle mat to get their attention.

Some Cat Kits by Pusheen Box get a better reception from my cats than others. This winter box certainly provided cute items in adorable winter holiday prints and fabrics, and I’ll make sure to put treats into the mat to see if my cats will play with it, but for the most part, these items have been ignored by my cats (my grand dogs, on the other hand, liked playing with them!). They have no interest in chasing the wand, the stuffed toys are too big to throw around, and the bed may be too small, I don’t think they could turn their selves around if they tried. The mat shows promise, and my daughter likes the frames, so I guess it’s time to print some pictures and she can place it on her fridge when she returns to college in January. The box itself can be turned into a toy by punching out the perforated trees, then place some smalls toys inside and the cats can try to fish them out.

Each quarterly box also includes an info card with brief details about the items in the box. See it below!

Cat Kit by Pusheen Box is an officially licensed, quarterly subscription box packed with adorable accessories, fun toys, yummy snacks, and more for your favorite feline friend! It is a coordinated box of goodies for your cat, although some items need a human to operate. If you want Pusheen products for yourself, you can check out their sister box, Pusheen Box.
