Drunk Elephant Silkamino Mega-Moisturizing Mask ($30) is a deeply moisturizing hair conditioner/mask. It has silk amino acids and panthenol and is supposed to fight frizz, strengthen weak hair, and provide protection from hot tools. I was excited to see that it has no added fragrance! Just a small amount of this light vanilla-scented (from actual vanilla) conditioner made my hair instantly feel silky smooth. It took some extra time to rinse it all out. I styled as usual and my hair didn’t look or feel weighed down, and no greasy bangs at the end of the day. Nice!

Lapalette Beauty Hydra Blue Petal Serum Toner ($32) I think of toners as something that you squirt on a pad and then use to wipe away any leftover crud on the face after washing. This is a thin gel that you apply with your fingers after cleansing and then leave on the skin. It’s a combo toner, serum, and “hydrogel” mask and it’s supposed to lock in hydration with three different weights of hyaluronic acid. There’s also glycerin, betaine, and boswellia extract. The scent comes from natural bergamot oil and it has a gentle citrus note. It is also adorable, check out the “petals” that are suspended in the bottle!

Girlactik Lash Play Duo Mascara ($22) When it comes to all of the different mascaras out there, most of them act exactly the same, except for the brand benefit for whatever reason. Anyways, this is a dual-ended mascara with a typical brush on one side and a tiny detail brush on the other. When applying with the larger brush it felt awkward because the container seemed ginormous. The teeny detail brush didn’t really do all that much either. Finally, the mascara smells like rose perfume, which was an odd touch and I don’t like the smell of rose perfume and I especially don’t want it near my eyes. Other than that, this did the job of making me look like I have lashes, same as any other mascara.

Love Craft Beauty Retractable Lip Liner in Space Bae ($17) I liked the fact that this liner was dual ended — one side was the liner itself, the other side is a handy lip brush. The liner was the kind that you can apply all over your lips and then cover it with lipstick or gloss. The tip was odd though and it broke off immediately after I used it. I guess the secret is to barely let any of it appear above the opening.

Here’s the liner in Space Bae, a nude pink.

Alamar Cosmetics Destino Eyeshadow Palette ($35) What an interesting collection of colors! It seems like this would work for summer but then there’s some browns and golds for fall wear too. Six of the shades are matte while four are shimmers. I applied an eye primer first and then swiped a shimmery shade on my lid with my finger (Estrella), then applied Un Sueno to the crease followed by a combo of Timba and Tierra. It’s the end of the day and there is shimmer all around and underneath my eyes so I can say that it doesn’t stay in place, but then that happens with other brands too.

I swatched part of the palette, so from top to bottom: Camello, Buena Vista, Timba, Estrella, and Tierra.

This was a good assortment in my November BoxyCharm! I received a hair product, a toning gel, and three makeup items and I’m really happy with the different areas that BoxyCharm picked for me. My favorite item was the Drunk Elephant conditioner, especially since it is free of artificial fragrance and didn’t irritate my sensitive scalp! I also liked the petal toner, and if nothing else it looks adorable on my counter with the suspended “petals” in blue. The palette has some colors I can wear on my eyes and mascara will always get used, if not by me then by my daughters. The lip liner was nice but even better was the brush on the opposite end that has a cover on it to keep it clean — I will take it with me when I travel if for no other reason than it’s covered and won’t make a mess in my makeup bag! The value for my box was around $136!
