Vellabox October 2023 Review: Soy Much Brighter Candle Co.

The October 2023 Vellabox is here and they sent one of three different candle scents that align with the scent preferences that are chosen at checkout. I received the fragrance for those who like their candles to smell woodsy. I also received a bonus item that goes perfectly with my new candle! I am reviewing The Vivere Box, which comes with a 16 ounce candle and is $38 a month.

Each month the candle comes in a drawstring bag. The prints and colors change each time. They can be reused to hold jewelry, gifts, and so on. I thought the autumnal colors here were a perfect match for the season.

Haunted Haus ($30) Our featured candle maker this month is Soy Much Brighter Candle Co. and this scent (along with the other two featured fragrances this month) is from their Fall Collection. Haunted Haus has scent notes of smoke and clove and that’s all that is noted, but I think it also smells sweet and amberesque. It’s definitely a mood and perfect for this month. I thought it smelled very strong when cold, and it had a good hot throw too and it just persists, I can smell it even when it’s not on. The burn time is listed as 90-100 hours and of course the fragrance is a phthalate-free oil blend.

Set of 2 Candle Rugs This is the first time I’ve ever heard of a candle rug and I am thrilled to have two in my possession! I normally use stone coasters for drinks under my candles (I once ruined a table top by letting a tea-light burn all the way down) but these are adorable! They look just like mini versions of giant fancy rugs, complete with fringe on the ends. The backsides have a pad to keep your tabletops safe (but of course always monitor your candle when it’s burning).

I am happy to have a beautifully scented candle to add to my collection thanks to Vellabox! I thought Haunted Haus was perfect for October and it smelled spicy and smoky, which reminds me of baking and bonfires (the other two scents for the month sounded awesome too). I would feel confident buying a candle from this brand based on the one I received since it was boldly scented and the scent lasted and carried, it was bolder than some of the other brands we’ve received. The candle mats are adorable and add a charming detail to an everyday item.
