The September 2023 Vegancuts Beauty Box theme was Summer to Fall Beauty Kit and they sent five beauty products to help cleanse my face and moisturize my body and hair — bonus, everything smelled good too, naturally. You can expect to receive vegan and cruelty-free products (and Vegancuts offers a snack box too)! See what I received in this month’s box below!

DEAL: Use the coupon code hellosub to get $5 off your first box on any Vegancuts subscription! It can only be used once per customer, but it can be used on multiple subscriptions at once so long as they are in the same transaction.

The card listed each item. Proceeds from the box supports various animal sanctuaries. Please note that the card says the Batanaful product is worth $30, but from what I can tell it’s $28 for a full sized bottle (150ml), and we received a sample size bottle (15ml).

Batanaful Wonder Oil ($2.00) I think we received a solid batana oil product previously (that I thought smelled like coffee) but this version is a liquid oil and it smells like sunny citrus. It’s a blend of several oils including batana, sweet almond, and jojoba but there’s also rosemary, sweet orange, and lemon essential oils. It can be used before shampooing as a mask, can be heated before use for a hot oil treatment, or used as a post-wash detangler, which is how I used it. I rubbed a very small amount between my hands and then ran them over my hair, and the tangles combed out easily. Style as usual.

Dr. Botanicals Gr Cleanser in Grapefruit & Watermelon ($9.90) This cleanser is for oily and combination skin but I gave it a try anyways (I have dry skin). Out plopped a big blob of gel so I rubbed it all over my face and had lots of suds (I didn’t apply it to my eyes). I wiped it off with a damp washcloth and had to get a second clean cloth because I used way too much, ack! It worked fine, has a “natural” scent, and left my skin tight, but then again, I was expecting it so I slathered on moisturizer.

Chiky Botanica Wildcrafted Redwood Oil ($20) If there’s one place I love almost as much as the beach, it’s the mountains. I applied this limited-edition, seasonal body oil on my limbs before I even toweled off from the shower. Imagine that you have just emerged from your 5th wheel, RV, log cabin, or tent and into a beautiful sunny morning surrounded by evergreen trees. That’s the feeling I got when I used it. It’s a blend of sunflower oils with redwood needles, balsam fir, and pine essential oils and it left my skin feeling moisturized.

The Grandpa Soap Co. ($1.69) This mini bar soap is destined to sit next to my kitchen sink whenever I finish up the current bar that is there. It has charcoal, mint, and hemp oils and is to be used on oily to combination skin but this is the type of bar I like to use when cooking dinner, one with no heavy fragrance!

Super Naturals Kombucha & Charcoal Exfoliating Clay Mask ($3.99) Usually when I receive a single use mask, especially if it has clay in it, I pass it along to one of my daughters as these are too drying for my skin. This version has clay plus kombucha, walnut shells, and charcoal and it’s supposed to exfoliate dead cells.

This month’s box was was heavy on the skin cleansing for some reason, with a gel cleanser, bar soap, and exfoliating clay mask, and none of it was stuff I would use for my skin type. However I will get a lot of use out of the body oil, and I liked the Batanaful oil, but I’m not sure why it’s value is overstated on the info card. If you have oily, normal, or combination skin then this box was probably a hit, but I still found some of the items useful. The value for this month’s box was around $37.60, well below the promised value of $70 stated on the Vegancuts website.
