HP Instant Ink is a subscription service that delivers ink for your HP printer to your door. This subscription service starts out as low as $0.99 a month, based on the amount if pages that you print (not the amount of ink used). This means that every kind of print costs the same, from simple documents to full color photos and everything in-between. This service also removes all stress from running out of ink as your printer sends out notifications when your ink runs low, prompting a new cartridge to be sent to you right away without clicking a finger.

This subscription isn’t based on how much ink you use, but rather on how many pages you print. This means your printer will communicate with HP to share your print volume – but could be a great way to save a ton on ink if your ink coverage tends to be high.

What’s also great is that you can roll over unused pages if you don’t use your plan’s allotted pages, either. You can roll over up to 3x as many pages as your plan provides in a month, or 2x as many pages for toner subscriptions. Here’s how many total pages you can roll over based on your plan: $0.99 for 15 pages – up to 45 rollover pages; $3.99 for 50 pages – up to 150 rollover pages; $5.99 for 100 pages – up to 300 rollover pages; $11.99 for 300 pages – up to 900 rollover pages; and $24.99 for 700 pages – up to 2,100 rollover pages.

Adding more pages if you need more is easy, especially when you’ve had a busier month. Summertime, and kids on vacation? You can also put your plan into the Vacation Mode! This option allows you to pause the plan for up to 4 months, but you can only do this once during a 12 month period. What’s great about the Vacation Mode is that you can still print up to 15 pages per month with no charge while this option is active. If you’ll need more than 15 pages during the Vacation Mode, you can pay a $1 for a set of 10 pages.

HP has recently introduced an optional paper delivery service that can be added to their Instant Ink subscription plan. This service allows subscribers to receive responsibly sourced 8.5 x 11 in., 20 lb, 96 Bright HP Paper directly to their doorstep, along with their ink plan. This means that users can enjoy the convenience of having both ink and paper delivered to them on a regular basis, saving them time and money. To take advantage of this service, users can sign up for Instant Ink and select the paper add-on option when prompted. With this new offering, HP aims to make it easier for users to keep their printing needs fully stocked and hassle-free.

HP Instant Ink doesn’t have a contract so you can change your plan at the end of any billing cycle.

How it works:

STEP 1

Make sure you have an HP Instant Ink eligible printer – just type the model of your printer to search:

STEP 2

Select your plan from the monthly ink and toner plan options. Plans are month-to-month without annual fees. You can customize your plan based on how much you think you’ll print at home. Plans can be changed at anytime (without a fee). What’s great about this is that if you do not print your maximum pages for the month, any “extra” pages are rolled over into the next month’s printed pages quota at no additional cost.

Here are the plan options:

STEP 3

Your printer will alert HP when your ink levels get low and they will mail you new ink cartridges.  You are not charged for the ink cartridges every time they ship you new ink. The monthly fee covers all the ink you need.  Prepaid envelopes will be sent with your new cartridges to mail back your old cartridges so they can be recycled.

FYI, if you cancel your subscription, even if the Subscription Cartridges provided with your subscription are not yet empty, they will stop working in your printer and you will have to replace all of them with standard cartridges.

This program is currently available in the United States, Canada, the UK, France, Germany, and Spain.
