The August 2023 box theme from My French Country Home was Bon Appétit and they delivered a copper ladle, olive wood flour scoop, and more! This box is beautifully presented and ships directly from France. It is filled with high-quality, luxurious items made in France. See our review below!

A Photo Print by Jamie Deck Each quarter will will receive a print from this year’s featured artist, Jamie Beck. This time around we received a photograph of a dewy rose and a stunning butterfly. This print can be framed but it’s also a large greeting card and came with an envelope so you get to choose how to use this piece.

Esprit Provence Thank You Gift Subscribers will receive one of four different herbs. I received a beautiful tin of mixed herbs to add a touch of Provence to my recipes. It’s a blend of rosemary, savory, oregano, and thyme and would pair wonderfully with sautéed vegetables, stews, omelets, pot roasts, chicken, vinaigrettes, and more. It has a shaker top but I would prefer to measure it with a spoon so I will see if I can remove the top but if not then I will sprinkle over a plate to avoid getting steam inside the canister. The expiration date is on the bottom of the tin and it’s good until 2026.

Esprit Provence Soap and Dish I always keep a bar of soap near my kitchen sink (I prefer it to pump soaps while cooking) and this soap not only smells sweet but it looks adorable on the plate. It takes up less room than my current dish and I like the olive color too.

Antique Escargot Pots These two mini pots are used to serve escargot, not something I can imagine serving in my home (or ever eating, although my daughter has tried it before). If you, like me, are not into snails as a source of food, consider using these to hold salt or pepper. I’m not sure they are big enough to hold anything else. They each came with a mini spoon made of horn.

La Rochere Glass Butter Dish ($24) This is a two-piece glass butter dish but for some reason the box shows it as a holder for jam. The base isn’t very big, it might hold about half a stick of butter or 1/4 cup of jam or honey. This isn’t the same as a butter bell — if you plan on using it to hold butter you will need to place it into the fridge to keep the butter from going bad if you don’t use it up all at once, but it will elevate tea time or a weekend brunch or even just a regular weekday breakfast. There are three bees embossed on the lid.

Jean Dubost Cheese Knife Set ($139.62 for similar) This is a sleek looking set to help me slice cheese with style. It has a knife and a two-pronged fork to cut precise pieces for the cheese course of your meal, or maybe I could place it alongside a charcuterie board so snackers can cut to order.

Berard Olive Wood Flour Scoop ($22.93) This scoop is made from a single piece of olive wood that is hand-crafted and of course every scoop is unique, the pattern will vary. It’s meant to be used to scoop flour and the shape fits comfortably in my hand.

Atelier du Cuivre Copper Ladle (Around $53 USD) This is a hefty ladle, I don’t think it will even fit in my cutlery drawer! This one is 11″ long and I’m guessing the bowl may hold at least 8 ounces of soup or oatmeal or whatever you are serving. It’s weighty in the hand too, I think the handle is made of iron. It makes me wish I had a pot hanger over my kitchen island, this would hold pride of place.

Linvosges Apron To round out our box we received a 100% cotton gingham checked apron. It has a tie at the back, an adjustable closure at the neck, and a large pocket in the front. I make a mess when I cook but when I have guests I want to wear something nicer than an old ratty t-shirt so this covers me well and can be thrown in the wash afterwards.

Here’s the product info guide, which looks like a magazine!

As always, My French Country Home Box delivered well made items and this time around it had to do with the kitchen and eating well and that’s a theme that I would embrace heartily. The copper ladle is huge and sturdy, while the apron protects my clothes when I’m dishing it up it in the kitchen. The soap will look so pretty sitting next to my sink and the herbs will liven up a roast or even roasted vegetables. I have never used a cheese knife before and the butter dish will help keep my butter looking good on the table. Finally, I think the print is so beautiful, I only need one more (from next quarter’s box) and then I will have the whole set and will consider hanging them in my home. Please know that most of these items are available at the MFCH online boutique if you see something that you want for your own home, while a few others were on Amazon.
