Relax & Radiate Crate is a quarterly collection of thoughtfully curated products chosen by The Girlfriend, an AARP-sponsored website specifically for Gen X women over 40, and CultureFly. Each box is $50 per quarter, and contains 7-12 unique and custom-designed home, beauty, and wellness items with a value of over $200. The items support mind, body, and soul. This is a review of the Summer 2023 Crate (the Fall Crate is scheduled to ship in October). The theme this quarter was “Ultimate Summer Adventure”, and while the crate arrived in late summer, I think the products will work almost any time of year!

Seraphic Skincare Exfoliating Mitt ($7.99) Subscribers received a mitt for either their body or face and I received the smaller one that is meant for the face. This mitt is double sided — it has a soft terry cloth side for everyday use, and a viscose side for deep exfoliation. This is supposed to be one of those exfoliators where you can see dead skin after rubbing it around, but I didn’t feel comfortable doing that to my face. I tried it on my arms and feet (and it will be a foot scrubber from now on) but again, no pilling of skin, but maybe I didn’t soak long enough. Please note that this may leave a black stain on your white tile, at least that was my experience.

Kenneth Jay Lane CZ Necklace ($99) This simple solitaire is lovely, a timeless piece that can go with virtually anything. The stone is cubic zirconia and is equivalent to a 2 carat diamond, and it’s 8mm across. The chain is rhodium and is a total of 18″ long with the extender, and apparently my neck is super chunky so I’m going to probably need another extender, or it will sit right at my throat. It’s a beautiful piece.

Mosaic Prints Acrylic Paint Kit I am not much into arts and crafts but this seems like it would be easy to complete and I adore the colors. There are four pictures inside that are printed on heavy duty paper but as always, protect your work space. I am passing this along to my daughter, who is about to return to college and might like a low-key activity to complete during the first week back.

Everywhere Belt Bag A year ago I was looking for a similar bag for walking workouts but was unhappy with my Amazon purchase, but this is perfect for my needs! It has two zippered sections and one section has mesh dividers inside. The strap is adjustable and the whole thing is in deep navy blue. There’s room for my cellphone, inhaler, glasses, and keys and probably a bit more, but I’m so excited to own this bag!

Mini Wooden Serving Tray This wooden tray can be used alone or with the ceramic coasters (see below).

Moroccan-Style Mosaic Coasters The coasters are ceramic on top with non-slip cork on the bottom. When all 4 coasters are in the holder they are flush with the top, which means you kind of have to tip it over to get them out. I like the design and colors of this set.

Personal Care Travel Kit I like being the person with those emergency supplies on hand, like Band-Aids, a sewing kit, or whatever (I also tend to keep pain meds, hand lotion, and lip balm, but I don’t share the lip balm). This cute bag is lightweight and has a bottom that means it can sit up rather than just lying on its side. It came with an assortment of products such as a nail file, wet wipes, pill box, sewing kit, floss pick, and more.

Silky Square Scarf This scarf is made of 100% polyester and is the last thing I want to wear here in Texas, where it’s been 100+ degrees since the beginning of June and today will be yet another record breaker. It measures roughly 30″ x 30″ and can be used in other ways, like wrapped around a purse handle, or I hear some women wear them in their hair, or maybe it will come in handy when it’s cooler. What it really comes down to is I’m not a scarf person, although I am a fanny pack person and some may not be a fan of that either.

Rainbow Glass Suncatcher This piece is hefty and so colorful (it looks clear in certain light). It came with a hanging hook and string, but I’ve been unable to figure out how that works so for now, it’s a paperweight. I love rainbows and pretty colors and shiny things so this is a win for me.

The Resting Place by Camilla Sten ($15.06) Please note that a variety of books were sent out so yours may not be the same as mine. This book is in the murder/thriller/psychological thrillers genres and that means it is exactly the type of book I like to read. I recently checked out another book by this author and never started it, but I will read this one soon, I’m still reading a novel for my book club right now (which falls into those same genres, ha!).

I really enjoyed the Summer Relax & Radiate Crate, I thought this one had items I could really use! My favorite item was the fanny pack, it’s exactly what I need for walking (when I can finally return to the great outdoors, please send autumn and rain). I also liked the care kit, the bag itself was adorable. The book is the type I usually pick out at the library, and the coasters and tray will look good in my living room and are helpful. I smile every time I see the sun catcher, it’s so pretty and mesmerizing. The necklace is a classic. The only items that weren’t my cup of tea were the scarf (because I don’t wear scarves) and the paint kit, although if my daughter hadn’t been so enthusiastic about it then I would have taken it to work to share with my students. Even the face mitt will get used, but as a foot scrubbie. It’s hard to say what the value of this box works out to since so many of the items are produced just for Relax & Radiate by CultureFly, but the KJL alone necklace sells for $99, maybe because it is associated with a designer jewelry maker. I liked the relaxing blue colors that were woven throughout the products, along with the repeating print. This was a fun box for sure!

Below are more box opening pictures, plus you will find the product info card and pamphlet that was included in the box.

I drape those scarves over my bedside table, if you are looking for an idea for how to use them.
