The May 2023 box theme from My French Country Home was Vive le Printemps and we welcomed spring with a floral candle, floral candies, and more! This box is beautifully presented and ships directly from France. It is filled with high-quality, luxurious items made in France. See our review below!

A table runner from Linoroom (around $48) Subscribers received a natural linen table runner in one of two prints and I received the one called Hortensia. Turns out hortensia is another name for hydrangea and it is lovely — hydrangeas always remind me of the time I lived in England as they grew in my backyard. It’s 18″ x 54″ and is machine washable.

A netted cotton string bag from MFCH ($55) This bag comes in black, brown, and white (as shown above) and subscribers will receive one of those colors. This bag is sturdy and there’s not a lot of stretch so it should hold items securely as long as they’re not smaller than the holes! It has wooden handles and I have the feeling my daughter is going to want this as soon as she sees it and it totally looks like something she would carry to the market or to brunch.

A candle from Carriere Freres ($75) This candle is scented with Bulgarian rose and black pepper, an intriguing combination that’s sweet and floral but that also fits the season and it is more sweet than spicy. It comes in a mauve pinkish purple candle holder and should burn for at least 40 hours. It looks so elegant while doing so.

An antique Bottle Vase ($30 listed value) The antique item for this quarter’s box is a small glass bottle that was most likely used as a grape preservation bottle back in the days before refrigeration. It’s about 6″ tall and perfect for a single stunning stem or a mini bouquet of wildflowers.

A set of knife rests from Atelier Solie (About $7.50 each, or $30 for the set) I’m always confused when I’m in a restaurant and want to keep my silverware from touching the table after picking up my napkin, and this would solve that problem. These are knife rests and you set your knife tip on it and voila, it no longer rests on the table. These are hand made and you can have them personalized on the back and you can choose from a variety of vegetables such as the peas, leek, carrot, and asparagus like I received.

Photo Print by Jamie Beck We were introduced to artist Jamie Beck in the last box and we will receive a print from her in each box this year, ending up with four total for a cohesive collection. This is an 8″ x 6″ print card that can be framed or you can jot a note inside and mail it off with the included envelope. Like most of her work it features lush florals and interesting touches like mini butterflies or dragonflies. Beautiful!

MFCH Custom Made Watch ($90) What a unique item, a watch face with three silk ties for mixing it up! You just slide the watch face (which has a rose in the middle) onto one of the three silk fabric ties and then tie it on your wrist (I needed my husband’s help with that part). I believe everyone received this version but there are three other sets on the MFCH online boutique.

This quarter’s thank you gift from Confiserie 1884 (about $7) is a tin of hard candies with unique floral flavors: rose, poppy, and violet. I think the one I had in my mouth while writing this was rose and it had a delicate flavor and was very delicious.

Here’s the product info guide, it looks like a magazine!

Opening My French Country Home Box is such an amazing experience, from unwrapping each item to putting them to use in my life or finding the perfect place to display them, it’s certainly exciting to receive each quarter! I love floral prints and it was lovely to see them on the print, candle, and table runner. The bag adds effortless style to an outfit and the watch looks so good on my wrist and the silk band is so smooth. The grape glass makes the perfect jar for holding a single stem, and the knife rests are adorable. The candies round out the box and are a tasty treat with unexpected flavor. If you are someone who enjoys the small details that make this box a stunner then please check them out and know that most items are available at the MFCH online boutique if you see something that’s a must-have.
