Hygge Box is perfect for those who like to get cozy and comfy in their homes. Hygge is all about that kind of lifestyle, sort of like self-care for the mind, body, and soul. The theme this month was Sommerhygge and included some cool items to enjoy during the hottest part of the year! I received something to drink, a snack, and more. See what else I received below! Please note that this is a review of the Deluxe Box and that extra item is at the end of the review.
Dragonfly String Lights I couldn’t find these online but there were all kinds of dragonfly lights that had different colors or that were solar powdered. These are battery powdered (batteries not included) and give off a yellowish glow. My daughter has already claimed them so they will be moving into her apartment when we move her in this weekend. Some of them have fallen off so I will need to reattach them with my glue gun before we pack. (Update: We left my daughter before her room was finished but when she sent me a picture that night I noticed the lights were draped on her headboard.)
Maison Bruyere Lemon Butter Cookies There’s always an item or two from a different country in this box and this month we received these cookies from France plus a salt scrub shown later in the post! As I was searching I noticed that one of the fancier stores that I often frequent carries this item so I know where to get more when I run out.
There were several cookies in the pack. This is a delicate treat, so some were broken. They are about the size of a Nilla Wafer but not quite as dense, however, the flavor wasn’t as buttery as I was expecting, it was kind of like a lemon Nilla Wafer if that makes sense.
Adagio Teas Blackberry Sage Oolong Iced Tea Bags (Buy a box of 6 sachets for $8, about a $2.67 value) I keep a pitcher of lightly sweetened tea in my fridge pretty much the whole summer long so I can’t wait to try this flavor (I already have peach tea in there now!). Each pouch makes 1 quart of tea and the instructions are on the bag, but you could also cold steep if you prefer.
Bath Mitt Here is another item my daughter has requested, a scrubby mitt to be used with body wash in the tub or shower. The card says that this is made of linen and it stretched to fit over my hand.
La Savonnerie du Pilon du Roy Organic Argan Oil Salt Scrub (About $14 USD) Here is the other product from a France, a body scrub made with salt and scented with a warm amber fragrance. It also has argan and olive oil. I applied it to wet skin in the shower and it had large crystals that provided a wonderful exfoliation and that left behind a light coating of oil after rinsing and I didn’t have to use moisturizer afterwards. The smell is different than what I normally receive in beauty boxes, it was exotic and stayed on my skin for a few hours but only in a slightly noticeable way, it wasn’t overpowering.
Deluxe Box Item
Danica Heirloom Table Runner in Harris Black ($25 for similar item) I don’t think I’ve ever used a table runner but this one was well made and seemed sturdy. It’s 13″ x 72″ and made of 100% cotton and reminds me of a rug for some reason, maybe it’s the thickness of the weave. Both edges have fringe. I think it would look pretty with a container of flowers in the middle but what else goes on top? Some salt and pepper shakers or serving bowls? This is new to me!
Here’s the runner on my table!
The Sommerhygge theme was perfect for the season! I love iced tea and sitting on the porch with a cold glass of a refreshing drink is the perfect type of hygge moment to have in this hot weather! The cookies were lemon flavored and that also seems like a summery flavor, maybe because I drink lemonade when I’m not sipping tea and this had that bright citrus note in every bite. My daughter loved the dragonfly lights as well as the scrubby body mitt while I enjoyed using the salty body scrub. The table runner is something that I’ve never used before so that added a novel touch to the box!
