The February 2022 Étoile Box is here and it was full of boutique finds that I might find while out and about on a shopping trip. It was filled with items to help subscribers “Choose You” during a time when romantic love is front and center. Treat yourself to a sweet sip with a drink mix, straw, and glass, and serve it with a brightly colored cocktail napkin featuring a well known artist. There’s more, see the review below!

Talking Tables Frida Kahlo Napkins ($8) There are 20 vibrant cocktail napkins featuring artist Frida Kahlo in this pack. They would certainly brighten up a meal when you bring them out of your lunch box or maybe use them on a dreary winter day to bring a pop of color to a dull landscape.

Verve Culture Moroccan Cone Glassware ($7, buy a set of 6 for $42) can be used as a drinking glass or as a vase for flowers. I found it interesting that these are made of recycled beer and wine bottles, and I think that’s a great way to get a second life from those beverage containers!

Candy Club Chocolatey Caramelcorn ($7) I think this item may vary between boxes but I received chocolate drizzled caramel corn! It had a good flavor and a lot of coating. If you are like me and worried about breaking your teeth or dental work, then I would suggest letting the coating melt in your mouth before chewing, as this is hard caramel and popcorn is always a little iffy with those hard bits here and there.

Hali Hali Reusable Straw Set in Strike a Pose ($11) I love the rose gold color of this reusable straw (although it could also come in gold, silver, or bronze shades). It comes with a cotton carrying case and a cleaning brush. I’m not convinced this is the best print — I couldn’t imagine breaking this out at work, which prior to Covid was always in education and it wouldn’t have been appropriate, but maybe that’s just me. My solution would be to leave the pouch at home, and place the straw in my cup before leaving the house, simple fix. (Before you think I’m a prude, know that I actually ate lunch in the high school cafeteria with special needs students and not in the teacher’s lounge! Before that I worked with preschoolers and again, I always ate with the students.)

Avenue Zoe Stone Bracelet ($21.50) This is such a cute piece, and it’s made of brass and zinc plus it has a stone. The chain looks nice and chunky, and the toggle closure is helpful, but it only comes in “one size fits most” and I apparently have huge wrists. It is about 7.5″ from the end of the toggle to the closure.

Dirt Bag Beauty Pucker Up Buttercup Lip Mask ($3.50) We received two exfoliating lip products this month. The first is a dry powder that you add water to before applying (and a drop of oil if you like, I added a drop of rosehip myself). You apply it to lips and it’s supposed to give a gentle exfoliation while enhancing lip color with improved circulation. It is made with matcha (ground green tea leaves), marshmallow root, rosehip, and sugar.

I mixed up half the bag contents with a little drip of water and a drop of rosehip oil. I applied it to my lips and tried to rub it around but it didn’t feel scrubby at all, it was like rubbing my lips with a paste of flour and water: not very scrubby, right? I left it on my lips for several minutes before wiping it off with tissue followed by a warm, wet washcloth. I didn’t see or feel any difference in my lips.

Dirty Lamb Chocolate Coconut Lip Rockz ($19.99) This product will surely exfoliate my lips, I mean, look at those sugar crystals! I actually received this product in a prior See New box, so I’m going to repeat what I said there, and to sum it up, I loved it: I have never been a fan of chocolate flavored/scented beauty products (they are so artificial) but I can happily say that this isn’t one of those products, any chocolate smell is natural, like a hint of cocoa powder. This is a lip scrub made with sugar, coconut oil, cocoa powder, sweet almond oil, shredded coconut, and vitamin E. It’s practically edible, and since it’s going on the lips (and a bit may potentially get in your mouth), then this beats the heck out of scrubs with microbeads and petroleum products. Just a little pinch is needed, probably smaller than you think. I rubbed it all over my lips with my finger, then tissued it off before finally rinsing with a warm, wet washcloth. The product was scrubby without feeling harsh and left my lips soft afterwards!

Craftmix Strawberry Mule ($1.25) and Craftmix Mango Margarita ($1.25) I received two drink mix packets (like Kool Aid for grownups!). One drink is supposed to be mixed with vodka, sparkling water, and ice while the other with silver tequila, sparkling water, and ice. I confess I have neither vodka or tequila in my collection, only rum (for daquiris, pina coladas, and a couple of recipes that I make). Guess what, you can leave out the alcohol and just add an additional shot of sparkling water! But wait, it has stevia, will it taste weird? I mixed the mango flavored pack with 4.5 ounces of Topo Chico and it was very sweet and reminded me of those artisanal sodas that you find at some restaurants. It was very fruity and had a super sweet flavor and a hint of aftertaste. I think I could have added even more water to make it more palatable. Bright color, super sweet? I stand by my Kool Aid assessment.

Etoile Box always sends some adorable items and I can totally see myself wandering the aisles of a unique boutique and happen upon any one of these goodies. My favorite was the Lip Rockz scrub, it tastes so good and works really well to exfoliate my lips. I was bummed about the other lip mask, it didn’t do anything for me, and I’m disappointed that the bracelet didn’t fit, but I have ample wrists and at least it will make a nice gift for one of my daughters.
