First Project: Goofy Turkey Buddies
Pretzel rods are turned into a Thanksgiving-inspired treat with the help of melting chocolate, sunflower seeds, candy corn, candy eyes! All the kids have to do is to assemble them in this order: a dollop of melted chocolate, pretzel rod, candy corn for the turkey “feathers” (pointy side down!), candy eyes, and sunflower seed for the turkey’s nose. It’s like a puzzle, and the reward for finishing it is a yummy treat! The last step is to add your choice of sprinkles and wait for the chocolate to settle before moving the treats to a plate or serving tray.
Second Project: Fall Cookies
It’s everybody’s favorite: cookie decorating! In this box, we received a dozen of sugar cookies in 4 different fall and Thanksgiving-themed designs: turkeys, fall leaves, and acorns. Meanwhile, the frostings are in orange, yellow, and brown, and it’s totally up to the kids to decide how they want to decorate their cookies using it. This is a super easy activity and my kids have always looked forward to unleashing their creativity through cookie designs!
These Thanksgiving projects from Gramma in a Box were absolutely fun to make and they require very minimal adult supervision. I just helped my kids in melting the chocolates in the microwave and that’s it. Another thing that makes these edible craft projects fun is knowing that we can enjoy the finished products in the end!
