Merkaela is a quarterly box that sends natural bath, beauty, and meditation products curated to a theme as well as the season. Merkaela’s items are made in-house although they may occasionally send a product from high-quality collaborators. All of the items are cruelty-free and there is a vegan option that you can choose at sign up. The ingredients are clean and in some cases organic. You can feel good about putting these items on your skin!

In our Deluxe box, you will receive 6-9 products (Essential box includes 3-5) built on the theme of the season. In addition, you will gain access to our thought-provoking content and a playlist that pairs with the products for that season. Our goal is to provide you with everything you need to be on your way to a holistic approach to a clear mind, body and spirit.

Merkaela has two different subscription levels. One is the “Essential” box ($40), which mainly has the meditation products, while the “Deluxe” box ($80) includes both the meditation products and self-care items. I am reviewing the “Deluxe” box. Keep in mind that shipping is extra. Recently added is a quarterly Soap Subscription, which is $25, and a Body Butter/Oil Subscription, which is $28. Now they even have a Smudge Stick Box ($18). Prices drop for longer subscription terms.

“Your wellness journey begins now!”

My items were tucked into shredded paper squiggles and the whole thing was covered in bubble wrap. The products come in glass containers and when you open the box, it smells relaxing, like I stepped into a luxurious spa. It’s already having a positive effect on me!

I received an envelope with some papers inside. The theme for this box is Peace.

Here is a Peace Poem.

A list of the items plus their MSRP’s was on the back of the card. A brief description was also noted.

There was a QR code to scan to play the Meditation Playlist on Spotify, or follow the address listed on the info card. There was also a Peace Affirmation card.

Here are the backs of those cards.

Everything in my box! Doesn’t it look beautiful? I think the packaging of Merkaela’s products is lovely and classy. They even have mini-affirmations on them. Most of them are in glass jars/bottles, except for the tea and soap.

Merkaela Purity Salt Bath ($18) We have a huge cold snap coming up and a soak in the bath sounds like a dreamy way to keep warm.

Four different salts (Mediterranean, Himalayan, Epsom, and Dendritic) are mixed with birch oil and passionflower to create a brisk, uplifting bath soak. I’m not familiar with birch oil but this mix smells very similar to wintergreen, with a sharp minty smell that I love.

Merkaela Matcha Bar Soap ($9.50) Merkaela soaps are some of the best I’ve ever tried!

This one is made of saponified oils, matcha, and rosemary. It smells like peppermint and I appreciate that the scent isn’t long lasting. This one is going into my shower but sometimes I keep one next to the kitchen sink, since the light scent doesn’t bother me when cooking and cleaning up.

Merkaela Ardor Meditation Elixir ($9.25) A meditation elixir is a good way to ground yourself before meditating. It gives you something to focus on, a kind of mind cleansing.

This elixir is made of water, Himalayan salt, alcohol, and rosemary essential oil blend. I’m not sure which oils are in that blend but it is a warm, spicy, comforting scent, maybe clove or something woodsy? Whatever it is, it smells wonderful. It’s a lightly scented spray that can be used on the head, body, or around your personal space.

Merkaela Rosemary Herbal Body Butter ($30 listed value) Merkaela has the best body butters, they smell and feel so luxurious!

This has a shea butter base plus hemp oil, olive oil, jojoba oil, plus plant extracts and an essential oil blend that includes rosemary.

I rub it on right after I get out of the shower, after toweling off but when my skin is still damp. I am not sure what all is in this fragrance blend but there is a floral note, possibly jasmine. It smells so lovely but isn’t overwhelming, it fades fairly quickly.

Merkaela Cooling Herbal Tea Potion ($8.50) A warm, soothing cup of caffeine-free tea is the perfect way to end the day, although Merkaela suggests drinking it before meditation.

The ingredients include spearmint, rosemary, and blackberry leaf. It may help relieve an upset tummy or headache.

I steeped it for 4 minutes with boiling water. There is warm herbal element to it, maybe that’s due to the rosemary but this almost smells like something I would put in my spaghetti sauce. The flavor also reminds me a bit of that sauce, but it wasn’t too distracting.

Merkaela Sacred Black Sage ($6.50) Merkaela usually sends either a sage bundle or smudging stick, for those who like to add an element of spirituality to their meditation practice.

According to the accompanying card, black sage may encourage sweet dreams.

The back of the card had burning instructions but you can also search Google for additional information.

You light the bundle, let it burn and smoke and then walk around your living space wafting the scent here and there. You can say a prayer beforehand or just have an open mind and positive intentions. At the very least your house will smell good. Make sure the smoke is fully extinguished before storing the remainder in the pouch. You should be able to burn the bundle several times.

Merkaela remains my favorite subscription box! I love the high-quality, well made products and that they are all-natural and not highly fragranced. They come in glass jars with classic labels and look good in my bathroom and dresser top. I definitely feel peaceful when using these products mindfully, and the jars all have mini mantras on them. This box is a wonderful splurge and would make an exquisite gift for someone special.
