Play! by Sephora is a monthly subscription box that brings only the best and exclusive Sephora beauty and makeup samples. The subscription costs $10 per month, and you’ll get 5 deluxe beauty products, playlists, a fragrance bonus item, plus coupons you can use when you visit in-store.

The items were neatly packed!

The fold-out poster has a really cute illustration of this month’s theme and a lot of helpful tips on skin care and makeup. Plus, a reminder that you can now us your Play! Pass online! That little card is a PLAY! Pass that will get you 20% off any foundation, tinted moisturizer, BB, or CC cream purchase from 10/15 to 11/30.

This month’s theme is Joy Of Complexion!

The fold-out poster also shows a list of all the items included in this box.

Your subscription also entitles you to PLAY! Date meetups if your store participates. I don’t even have a Sephora (not even a JCP one) but this box totally excites me even without those experiences. I love the high-end brands every month for just $10.

The items are packed in a blue transparent plastic pouch. They’re so handy, I love reusing them!

Everything in my box! See the spoilers for all the variations here. Your box could vary – it’s built off your profile!

Moroccanoil Night Body Serum ($2.37) It’s a bonus item! Ideally applied all over the body, this rich serum is formulated to eliminate dullness and improve skin’s texture. It’s also hydrating and firming, thanks to the blend of antioxidant-rich argan and tsubaki oils.

Other key ingredients are holy basil extract, which helps protect skin from environmental stress, and vitamin C ester, which smooths and strengthens skin.

The sample came in a slim, portable bottle. Continued use promises a more radiant, youthful-looking appearance. The formula is highly-concentrated yet absorbs really fast. It even leaves your skin with a nice scent!

BeautyBlender Bounce™ Liquid Whip Long Wear Foundation ($40 Full-Size) Liquid and weightless, this foundation offers full coverage and a matte finish. It works well even with dry and combination skin types without stripping your skin of moisture or clogging your pores.

I got it in Blend 2.10, which is a medium shade with cool undertones.  It makes the skin a perfect base for makeup.

The liquid foundation is infused with hyaluronic acid, known for its moisturizing properties, and white birch extract, which brightens the skin. Applying this will be a breeze if you use a blending sponge.

Tarte SEA Water Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 ($6.63) I got another foundation sample, and this time it boasts SPF15 and hypoallergenic ingredients, including Rainforest of the Sea complex which is a proprietary blend of algae and marine flower extracts. It comes with a dropper applicator, making every application mess-free.

I got it in 22N, a light neutral color perfect for light skin with yellow and pink undertones. It has a nice coverage! I just needed 2 to 3 drops and it looked fantastic on my skin. It wasn’t sticky or drying either.

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer ($9.14) Smashbox primers are awesome! This one features a new look, but it’s still the same clear primer with a gel texture that helps me keep my makeup flawless and long-lasting. It blurs fine lines and reduces the appearance of pores. It’s even packed with vitamins A and E that protects the skin from environmental stressors, so it’s really skin-friendly. The formula goes on light and smooth, plus it’s oil-free!

Urban Decay Cosmetics All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray ($4.12) If a primer makes turns your skin into a flawless makeup base, a setting spray ensures that it stays on for a long time. This one is weightless and gentle on the skin. It’s made with a patented Temperature Control Technology, which means it helps lower the temperature of your makeup to keep everything looking fresh no matter the weather. No more melting, cracking, or fading!

Make Up For Ever Matte Velvet Skin Full Coverage Foundation ($6.01) This is the third foundation in the box, and it’s offering full coverage with a matte and velvety finish. I got it in Y245 which is described as a soft sand shade. It goes on nicely on my skin and it’s blendable as well. It sucks when your face gets all shiny after just a couple of hours, but this one isn’t like that. It stays fresh for a long time, so you don’t have to retouch every so often.

Sephora Play included 3 foundation samples, a primer, and a makeup setting spray. I wish they pushed for a little more variety in the items, but I still had fun trying all the foundation they sent. If someone’s still looking for their perfect foundation match, this would work but for someone who already has enough of them, maybe getting 3 is just too much. Anyway, I loved the primer and the setting spray. They’re both crucial in keeping my makeup looking fresh and vibrant. The curation’s retail value is $26, excluding the Beautyblender and the bonus item. It’s still a good deal, considering that this subscription is just $10 per month!
