Squawk Box is a monthly birdie care package of 4-6 bird treats, toys, and more delivered straight to your door. Because parrots, big and small, need a great amount of stimulation to thrive, Squawk Box will deliver a new selection of toys every month. Every crate is carefully curated to keep our feather friends happy and healthy!

The box is available in four sizes: Little Birdie (great for Lovebirds, Parrotlets, Cockatiels, Parakeets, Green Cheek Conure sized), Middle Birdie (great for Quakers, Conures, Senegals, Pionus, Timneh Greys, Caiques, some Mini Macaws & some small cockatoos), Big Birdie (Amazons, Cockatoos, Eclectus, and Congo African Grey sizes), and Jumbo Birdie (large Amazons, Macaws, Moluccan Cockatoos). The monthly subscription starts at $24.95 for the Little Birdie to $44.95 for the Jumbo Birdie, with significant discounts for longer subscriptions. Knowing that parrots have a long life ahead of them, and that they will destroy everything around them (including couches, books, important papers, walls), the longer subscription is definitely a must! They now ship to Australia!

Also, for each Squawk Box ordered, a percentage goes to parrot rescues. Not only do you provide fun new treats to your own bird, but you help other parrots as well!

This review is for the Little Birdie. My assistant reviewer, Kiwi the Lovebird, is always happy to stick around to see what’s new and fun in her box. Fun thing: non-bird pet can also enjoy these box, such as squirrels or hamsters! Of course, the bird is not included with the box, you have to provide your own diva!

Everything is packed with paper and both the box and packaging are bird safe. So bigger birdie will have a blast with the box!

There is no information on the content of the box, but you get a nice DIY Parrot Treat (Cool Summer Salad), a Did You Know about parrots (the amazing Kakapo – go check Sirocco the Kakapo, the infamous parrot who tried to hilariously mate with a human on tv and who became the spokesbird for conservation in New Zealand ), and the Rescue of the Month. For July, part of the money from the sale of each Squawk Box goes to the Kakapo Recovery Programme in New Zealand.

So let’s see what’s in this month’s box!

Featherland Paradise Bird Toy. The favorite this month, it has braided palm leaves, straw, little pieces of colorful paper and, of course, a bell.

Kiwi is nuts for bells! Starting at 6am until bedtime, anytime is bell time. She also loves destroying the straw balls before going to bed.

Planet Pleasure Hula Skirt. This is a cute little foraging toy! It has hidden shreddable parts in which you can hide sunflower seeds or safflower seeds, or even nut pieces to help your bird forage.

Feathered Addictions – Sweet Juicy Bonnet. This toy is from Feathered Addictions latest collection, the Sweet Summer Collection. Yes, even birds deserve their seasonal collections!

It’s made like a cute farmer’s hat with a “sunflower” made with sola tree, some balsa cubes, shredded paper and a strawberry made with pine. Also, a bell. This is a preening, foraging and shreddable toy, all at once. With a bell for the angry birds! We love Feathered Addictions toys as they are made with natural material that are safe for your birds.

Prevue Hendryx Mineral Blocs. Kiwi received this mineral blocks in the apple shape.

This block is easy to hang in a cage. Kiwi never cared for these BUT she has TWO birdy cousins who can’t get enough of them (Cait the Budgie and Kip the Quaker) and they’ll be happy to chew on it.

Talon Treats – Banana chips. Kiwi is a picky eater. But we still try to add dried fruits and veggies to her pellets and seeds to try to trick her into eating them.

They are not sweetened like your normal banana chips, and they actually taste really good. They are not super crunchy, but they are not too chewy either.

She couldn’t run away from it fast enough! I don’t mind, I have a whole month to get her to try a bit before getting a new treat to try in the next box!

This was an other great box. Kiwi loved her three new toys, and she’ll be able to share the mineral blocks with an other lucky bird! Like almost every single previous box, she doesn’t really care for the treats, but we love to get them to get her to try them, or just to force her to forage in her food bowl to get to her delicious pellets or millet. Maybe one day she’ll surprise us by FINALLY liking a treat!

Kiwi and I love Squawk Box as it is great to discover new toys, and maybe new favorites. We really enjoyed the variety of texture, colors, and types of toys that we receive in every box, there’s always something she’ll like! It’s also a great way to get your bird less afraid of new things, and more curious about things around it.

I’m impressed by the variety of toys available out there as Kiwi has been subscribed to Squawk Box for a long time now and she received the same toy only a couple of times. And it’s usually a toy she loves and has destroyed, so this is a win. It’s fun to get a box of new toys and treats to discover, instead of spending countless hours at the pet store in front of a very limited selection to end up buying the same toy over and over again! And sometimes, your bird will surprise you by loving a toy or treat you were sure it would hate!

Chirp!
