Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription. You get five makeup, beauty, skincare, and hair care items in a cute bag for $10 a month! It’s the most popular subscription box and a great way to sample new colors and beauty brands.

This month’s theme is “New Year, New Products – More Focus On You.”

The back of the card includes tips to help you have fab holidays!

Ipsy has a lot in store for us this year! Be sure to read the intro card.

They included new brand collaborations like Huda Beauty, Benefit Cosmetics, It cosmetics, Sunday Riley and Glamglow. They will also release some videos and tutorials for every single one of the products, how cool is that?

We can also add 3 extra samples every month with their add-on program. They also introduced a new quiz to personalize our preferences on the items we will receive.

I see they improved their Ipsy card and has a detailed description of every product in the Glam Bag while giving us discounts or promo information on some of the products.

Everything in my January 2019 bag!

There are many bag variations every month for Ipsy – login to your account to check out how-to videos and tips for your products. They’ve also started emailing out product information and tips from their influencers!

January 2019 Glam Bag. They started this year with a simple blue striped glam bag that is spacious enough to fit all our goodies for this month!

Love the hot pink lining and zipper!

Beautaniq Beauty Blush Serum in Sunset ($16) Because of the cold weather, this is a perfect product to try as it can give us the right amount of flush without drying the skin. It’s a multitasking nourishing water-based cream that we can apply to our cheeks and lips for the natural radiance we covet. Its non-greasy pigment is long wearing and blendable. Apricot fruit extract is the star ingredient of this item which is rich in minerals, organic acids, and phenolic acids. They enrich and support the natural moisture balance of the skin.

Akar Skin Lip Butter ($8.57) This is the lip butter that saves all the driest lips. No need to constantly apply as this is a combination of soothing oils and nutrient extracts that keeps the lips soft and nourished for a long time. You can even apply this to cuticles and nails. It is formulated with petroleum free ingredients which are said to bring false hydration, clogging and suffocating the pores. This lip butter is infused with highly concentrated natural ingredients that are sourced organically and wild harvested from the Tibetan plateau. It is guaranteed that there are no parabens, silicones, phthalates, GMO ingredients and artificial preservatives in this product.

Naked Cosmetics Heavy Metal in HE-06 ($14.99) Another versatile product! Ipsters that got this one either receive this shade in Heavy Metal 6 in cobalt blue or in Heavy Metal 4 which is like a rust shade. This cruelty-free product is formulated with high grade 100% oxidized mica without fillers like talc, oil or wax.

We can use this as an eyeliner, eyeshadow, lipstick or even in nail polish. Just isolate some amount of nail polish and combine it with this metallic dust and voila!

Eyeko Eye Do Liquid Eyeliner Travel Size in Carbon Black ($9.90) This liquid eyeliner glides smoothly on the lids without tugging them, applying a single stroke of carbon-black perfection.

It makes a thin line which you can build up and facilitates precision in making some simple or complicated eye looks. It has a wide lash enhancer so applying it actively thickens the lashes for 15 days of use. It’s also waterproof so it won’t budge, even if you party all night.

They are all pigmented in these swatches. As you can see the black liner is gorgeous with deep color payoff and has a thin line that can be perfect for winged eyes.

The blush serum color, on the other hand, really registered here. We should be really careful and be subtle in applying.

Lastly, it was scary to see the heavy metal in the pot because it looks really bright. But here in the swatch, it’s not as bright as it looks in the pot but still shimmery making it wearable. It can still suit some people who like to try shimmer for the first time but doesn’t want to be overwhelmed with glitter.

Ciaté London Wonderwand Mascara in Black Magic ($8.11) It is designed to make us look fresh all day and brings intense volume on the lashes with one application. You can apply another coat and it will not smudge, clump or flake. It promises to give us 24 hours on fleek lashes and a formula that is free of parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.

We can wiggle our way from roots to the tips of lashes using the uniquely lash-hugging bristles that volumize, lengthens, defines and curls the lashes effortlessly. You can also try a makeup melter or a makeup balm to effectively remove this.

At least we still get to experience new glam pouches every month. We missed that in Ipsy Glam Bag Plus. I’ve noticed brands are really stepping up their game in terms of ingredients and versatility. Almost all of the items here are good for other purposes. The naked cosmetics’ heavy metal glitter as eyeliner, lipstick or nail polish. The blush serum that can be a moisturizing lipstick at the same time. And even the eyeliner that is also good as a lash enhancer. It’s more practical, could save us some money and lessen the items needed in our essential kits. Speaking of saving money, I noticed a lot of improvements in the subscription particularly the card and presentation. They kept the good stuff and added more features for the same price. Not to mention I got almost $58 (excluding the price of the glam bag) of items that are all worth trying out. They started this year with a bang! I’m looking forward to more of their exciting curations.

This bag would not have made me happy as it has that dreaded blush serum and eyeko eyeliner. It’s always a gamble with these $10 subs….sigh….. thank you for the great review though!!!

I think this just may be my favorite monthly bag (and I have over 20 or 30). I’m talking about the bag itself. After not liking the December bag nearly as much as most, I got only 1 of the same products as the review above. I do like Ipsy lots, especially when they send nail polish!
